With today’s judgment, it cannot be explained why Deputy IG, Eliud Lagat is not accused number one in the murder of Albert Ojwang. It cannot! Lagat is the one who complained about Ojwang’s publications and ordered that he be killed.

The Law Society of Kenya has taken a bold and commendable step to call for judicial accountability. Corruption is undoubtedly a major malaise that has slowly eroded trust in our judicial system, and it must be addressed one way or another. However, LSK should lead us to engage in some self-introspection. 1. Can corruption in the judiciary exist without the participation of lawyers? 2. If it is wrong for a judge to obtain orders to stop an inquiry by JSC ? Should LSK publish a list of lawyers who accept instructions to represent the mentioned judges? 3. What about judges who issued the orders; should we not shame them as well? 4. It takes two to tangle; what about lawyers who file cases in Court and bribe judicial officers to get a favorable decision? Shouldn’t we have a list of shame for these lawyers as well? 5. In 1994, 37 prison warders died in a road accident. A Nairobi lawyer, Kamau John Kinyanjui, was paid Kshs. 52 million in compensation for the families but stole the money. LSK didn’t take any action. The trend has continued. How many Kenyans continue to suffer at the hands of rogue lawyers? Why is LSK silent? What is LSK doing to reform the legal profession? 6. There are hundreds of cases pending in the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal involving theft of client money. Will LSK publish the list of lawyers with pending disciplinary cases and ask members of the public to boycott them? How far is LSK willing to take this conversation ? Or am I asking the wrong questions?

Yesterday's vote in Ol Kalou doesn't sugarcoat for President William Ruto the plain and transparent truth on the torturous road to 2027. It gives him a binary choice. Continue listening to the effusive and praiseful lullabies by Kiambu politicians whose support is in single digit and not beyond immediate family members, stick with Prof Kithure Kindiki and believe their false narrative that he will get 40% of the Mt. Kenya vote and know that a humiliating defeat is certain. Or act the political fox you always have been, pick a Luo or a Luhya runningmate(preferably the latter) and hit the read running. The choices are clear. And President Ruto must smell the coffee...by force.

With all the investment in Mt Kenya West, President Ruto may not get 20% of the vote. The bitter tribalist Rigathi Gachagua has cemented the base. DCP tickets will be trading up to KES10M. In Ol Kalou, you can see Muchina Nyagah is hardly getting 14%. However, President Ruto shall win Mt Kenya East (refer to Mbeere North). We must now invest in productive regions in the remaining 12 months.
