@GovBillLee I’m glad your company is installing lights where Alyssa Lokits was killed, and I’d be even more glad for some legislative action to address the root problem. Her killer had a prior violent conviction and bought a gun legally.

The story is the God who sustains the people, especially when they are keen-eyed to see how God’s faithfulness works and find themselves again and always in the subtle, subversive, unexpected ways of Christ, crucified and resurrected.

To those who have ears to hear: Stay faithful! Our God has remained faithful through each and every political season, but political seasons are not the plot of the story.

The story that makes us who we are must not be forgotten! God has been faithful to God’s people in all seasons of political life. When Pharaoh was a slavedriver, God was faithful to rescue.

Glad to be back on the Mill Creek Greenway tonight with some others who did all we could for an amazing member of our community. A senseless act of violence won’t take this place away. #RunForAlyssa #RunForAlyssaLokits

The wounds of Jesus are the entirety of his physical description in the Gospel accounts. The writers were apparently not concerned with his appearance, that we would be drawn to physical beauty. Rather, his wounds stand open as the invitation into the divine life.

I get it that it’s kind of funny to make memes over a debunked rumor about people eating pets, but the very logic of that conspiracy is aimed at dehumanizing people who are created in God’s image. We should probably treat the rumors as such.

Writing a peer-reviewed research piece is a good reminder of the value of peer-reviewed research. It's far more tedious and much more likely to be on solid research grounds.

Giving attention to virtue in a political season means putting focus not on which candidate wins but about who you will be on the other side. What we do know forms who we’ll be then.

Our call is not to be conservative, progressive, or moderate. We are called to be like Christ, to pick up our cross and walk in the way of love, living out our vocation as God’s image bearers. And when we follow our true call, we do not fit into any of the world’s categories.

In ministry, asking 'how' questions apart from 'who' questions runs the risk of being effective in the wrong direction. 'How' we do ministry needs to always begin in 'who' God is, lest we become really good at something other than new creation.

“Enough of this!” said Jesus to his followers who opted for violence against those who threatened them. And then he offered healing. This is what following Jesus is like: stopping violence and working toward healing.
