@ChatCityTactics I think an interesting addition to that data set would be aggregate match days g+ for the season to date to get a sense of how they have progressed over time as the season goes on.

This year, I am tracking weekly #AllForCITY Net g+ trends to better understand how players are improving/reducing their goals' added value each week. Players are more susceptible to early-season swings as others reach the 450-min mark across the league. Week 8 Net g+ percentile trends:

@ChatCityTactics It’s psychological. Once they get their spots they’ll fight harder to keep it. I actually respect the fact he’s giving the guys that have put in the work the opportunity to keep their spot.

@CSuttonCITY I think they’re going to feed the hot hand. BS ended the year in good form. He seems to be in the right place at the right time often. CT will find it again. Im actually surprised how low he’s flew under the radar.

@Timyaz Not sure if it’s Damet/his system, or they loved McSorley in preseason, but I was surprised Teuchert wasn’t the earlier 2H sub when we let up the equalizer. If he’s expected to be more of a facilitator & hold up play rather than a traditional striker I think he could be great.

#AllForCITY have extended Simon Becher to an extension through June 2028, with an option for the 28-29 season. Not quite sure how I feel about this one tbh.

@Timyaz Would love for him to be a rotation piece, maybe get some lengthier minutes in cup games. He has the motor/work rate to be successful and to win over fans, just gotta find the back of the net a bit more often!

@RoccSTL My guess is they’re actively looking for a dp striker or proven goal scorer. But to flip to u22 wild be widely seen as erratic unless we were to nab a generational talent.

@Timyaz But they’re wasting $1mm because Córdova has a small chance to be a gamechanger. Especially in such small amount of games. If they remain with a 3/3 and being in an actual DP-level player, then I won’t consider it poor use of $1mm

@RoccSTL That’s only if they switch back to 4 u22. Which I’m guessing is not the overarching plan. I definitely wonder why they made him a dp rather than TAM. But I don’t think it makes a difference based on how this window played out.

@Timyaz They still lose half the $2mm for having a 3/3 roster build for the first half of the season

@j_clem Spending 20+ million would be crazy. I get the hometown connection, but being systematic with how we spend money is much wiser. It just goes to show, there’s nothing easier than being an imaginary soccer club owner.

I’m blown away by how many times I’ve seen angry posts about Sargent not coming to #AllForCITY today. Even if you take out the fact he said on record he only wanted Toronto; I just don’t see how it would make sense for CITY to spend that much now. The club needs more than expensive DP forward. It’s not the right time to make that move.

@MattBakerSTL @stlCITYsc I’m ok with it. Players can thrive in the right system. And it’s a very low gamble without many options. Wray is limited with what he can do in terms of what’s available and how it lines up with his long term vision.

The striker position in St. Louis begins to come into focus with Sergio Cordova reportedly on his way to @stlCITYsc via loan from BSC Young Boys in Switzerland. A big key here is 'loan to purchase' meaning #AllForCITY retains flexibility to see if he works or continue shopping for a DP striker this summer The 28 y/o 6'2 forward checks a lot of boxes that we're seeing consistently prioritized by Corey Wray: - MLS experience w/RSL & VAN w/15g/2a in all comps between 22-23 - A tall, aerial threat who could profile as a target striker benefiting from our wingplay/crossing - Physical player who can help hold up play & connect a build up before crashing the box.

🇻🇪 🔴 Sources: St. Louis City is finalizing a deal to sign Venezuela int’l forward Sergio Cordova on loan from BSC Young Boys. Deal is loan with purchase option. Cordova, 28, previously played for Vancouver and Real Salt Lake in MLS. 19 caps for Venezuela.

Some eagle eyed fans pointed out over the weekend that he’d been added to the roster in the app with the number 5. The latest reports indicate he may be close to signing for #AllForCITY

Hearing Dante Polvara talk about what it means to wear a shirt hits hard. He sounds like a guy who "gets it" and I'm excited to see what he can do. Definitely isn't afraid of a challenge. #AllForCITY
Red Smoke Rising: A St. Louis CITY SC Podcast@RedSmokeRising

Dante Polvara had his first media appearance since joining #AllForCITY on Monday. He discussed the plan to use his skills as a center back and expressed a desire to build a connection with the fans as the 2026 season draws closer.

@MattBakerSTL @stlCITYsc Wray said they didn’t anticipate moving Klauss but it made sense. I’m guessing filling his spot will take time unless he already had his eye on someone. Good news to hear there’s powder in the keg. But, I’d rather them be patient.

We have plenty. If we convert all of Klauss' cash trade into GAM (which we can and hopefully will do), then we're up to over $8m in GAM even after all the Polvara work. Ballparking around $4m of that needs to go to making our roster compliant... so we're in great shape w/GAM even after all necessary uses so far.

Dante Polvara is officially #AllForCITY! The 6'4 25 y/o American midfielder signs with @stlCITYsc through the 27-28 season w/a 1 yr club option. Polvara appeared in 93 matches for Scottish side Aberdeen FC, notching 6g/7a. Polvara is a 2021 Hermann Trophy winner, formerly from the NYCFC Academy & is viewed as a good box to box midfielder + good 2-way play & strong passing abilities. In the announcement, Sporting Director Corey Wray said, “We’re excited to bring Dante to St. Louis and believe he will add quality and competition to our group. He is a versatile player who can impact games in both defense and in midfield, and at 6-foot-4, he brings an imposing physical presence while still being technically clean on the ball. He’s still young but has gained valuable experience from Scotland and European competition which will help him contribute right away.”

@MattBakerSTL I don’t doubt a healthy Kessler is worth the money. From a personality standpoint, he’s one of my favorites and I wish him well. But I think the club erred on the side of caution. And that money is better deployed somewhere else.

There will be a lot of interest in the MLSPA Salary Guide by #AllForCITY fans this Spring. We were already keen on seeing what Roman Bürki's salary would be & the implications of his being able to be bought down in '27. But now Henry Kessler. As we understand it, Kessler's contract w/@stlCITYsc was set to see a decent raise in salary, pushing up near max-TAM. CITY declined that and were negotiating. A popular theory being that Kessler was looking at options in Europe vs taking a pay cut to stay in St. Louis. To see him land w/Charlotte is a bit of a gut punch, so we now wait anxiously to see what they agreed to pay Kessler given this context w/St. Louis.
