Great game yesterday! It had everything: sweeping manoeuvres, large scale skirmishing in closed terrain, intense house to house fighting, artillery duels… no grand cavalry charges though, next time we need those too.

@LibertyForAll19 That's probably true, but 1. I doubt that you are going to redirect society, and 2. there are many, fun, clever, wargames being designed today also.

These games sold well, played well, and were fun. The claims about complexity and "minutiae" come from modern people who would struggle to navigate their city if the GPS went down. The problem is not the game design its is the direction of society that has changed.
