OTD: On November 1, 1826, Tippecanoe County’s first marriage license was issued to William Tenary and Rebecca Franklin. Justice of the Peace Levi Thornton married them on November 2nd. This original license (along with all the other county licenses) is kept at TCHA!

OTD: September 8, 1881: Lafayette hosted a convention of the National Christian Temperance Union in Blue Ribbon Hall. The 4,300 unions claimed a national membership of 525,000.
