Per WON, Pat McAfee opted out of the Cody vs. Randy storyline, leading WWE to drop it and scrap the planned Backlash tag match. Both McAfee and Jelly Roll were very aware of the criticism around celebrities in wrestling. They love the business and reportedly didn’t want to add to the negative sentiment, with fan reaction believed to be a key factor in McAfee’s decision.
