In a choppy, range-bound market, a good breakout will look as good as it did under better market conditions, but then fail to follow through. Look at last week's $CRWD and $GS just as examples of this.

By looking at the news during that period, a momentum burst does not need news or a catalyst to work. Most do not have one.
