Remain with your classmates, because I can tell you that in the New Nigeria, you will not be a leader unless you attended a school and people know your classmates. — Peter Obi

This is vintage Asiwaju talking about gas, investment, tax reforms etc at the NESG Townhall in 2022. He went with members of his team including women like Hadiza Bala Usman, Dr. Jumoke and I believe Olu Verheijen. This is typical Tinubu. He doesn’t shine alone. He works with a team. These three ladies are today part of his government. Hadiza is the headmistress at Villa coordinating policies, Dr. Jumoke is Minister of Trade and Investment, Olu Verheijen is the Special Adviser on Energy. Many don't know that before he declared to run for President, Tinubu already assembled a team and gave them several assignments to come up with what is possible in key sectors. Someone like @taiwoyedele started working on tax reform policies for Tinubu even before the elections, which is why one of the first major acts of President Tinubu was the constitution of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms headed by Prof. Taiwo. Today he's now Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy after successfully delivering the most ambitious and comprehensive tax reforms in Nigeria's history. The executive orders he signed around oil and gas early in his administration didn't just happen, it was thanks to the background job Olu Verheijen and others did and it unlocked a lot of FIDs and restored a lot of confidence in the oil and gas industry. Asiwaju keeps his think tank away from the politics. The knots in the power sector is being untied gradually. In his manifesto, Asiwaju was clear already about the long-term expectation of full commercialisation of the sector and he consolidated on what Buhari started by amending and Electricity Act of 2023 to enable transfer of regulation from NERC to subnationals who create their electricity market and request jurisdiction from NERC. This is the process of reforms that is not always visible but it is foundational for any future success. I don't want to talk about the student loans and @NELFUND, which he was clear about in his manifesto or the consumer credit scheme. These are just few of the clear policies he outlined in his manifesto. Unfortunately some people feel that a Peter Obi for example who has an Aisha Yesufu as the highest ranking person in his circle of think-tank is who will transform Nigeria. If you ask many Obidients what exactly is Obi's alternative to Tinubu's many policy directions, they will say @PeterObi has compassion but @officialABAT doesn't have compassion 🙄. You cannot find any place where Peter Obi or the more experienced @atiku for that matter will make such a profound statement of clarity about any sector and what specific policy change they will bring about like what Tinubu said in this video clip. Theirs is to complain and tell us what Bangladesh and Indonesia are doing. Zero local context, zero clarity on what they need to do and some fellows want me support them so as not to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Mek I stop here fess...
