India’s first Certified Plastic Welding Technology Course inaugurated at Government Polytechnic College, Vanavasi under the Vetri Nichiyam Scheme of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. This 15-day certification program is a flagship CSR initiative of Steel Authority of India Limited – Salem Steel Plant (₹35 Lakhs investment), executed by Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centre for Automobile (TN AutoSkills) in collaboration with Leister India Pvt Ltd. A state-of-the-art Plastic Welding Laboratory has been established, setting a new national benchmark in industry-aligned, future-ready skilling. The vision originated from SAIL leadership to anticipate future industrial skill demands—transforming a real plant-level need into India’s first structured certification in plastic welding. This pioneering program prepares youth for high-growth careers in automobile manufacturing, HDPE fabrication, chemical & fertilizer industries, and industrial assembly sectors. The inauguration was graced by senior leadership of SAIL Salem Steel Plant, government officials, and academic leaders, reflecting strong industry–government–institution collaboration.
