Good advice in general. Laying juice on a true 50/50 is a bad bet. That said, if a rec/casual is betting something like -102 on either side of the coin toss, that’s honestly one of the better wagers they’ll make all day. A lot of people are laying -110 into mature markets or firing parlays with way worse math.
