I don't know if I am alone in observing that almost [9 of 10] all the time you go searching for any Law, Act, Rules of Court or similar instruments online, the organisation that always comes to the rescue is PLAC. I am taking this opportunity to publicly thank PLAC for this good work of making laws and related instruments available and accessible to the public. Thank you.

Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki
Ordinarily, my attitude to this insidious move by the incumbent Governor of Kwara State to initiate a case of criminal liability against me in the unfortunate incident of armed robbery which happened in Offa community eight years ago should be to shrug it off and say that we will meet in court since I know I have nothing to do with the incident or any other crime for that matter. However, I have been inundated with calls from many well-meaning Nigerians who were surprised by this turn of events. Thus, for the benefit of the general public, let me categorically state that I have nothing to do directly or indirectly with any case of armed robbery or any criminal matter, whatsoever. The Offa robbery incident was designed under the Buhari administration with the connivance of some individuals from Kwara State as an instrument of blackmail to seize political power from our group in 2019. The case was investigated by the police team from the office of the Inspector General of Police. However, following the investigation, in two separate legal advices dated June 22nd, 2018, and August 23rd, 2018, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) stated that there was no evidence directly or indirectly linking me to the robbery incident. The DPP in his first legal advice stated that “For the Senate President and the Kwara State Governor, this office is unable to establish from the evidence in the interim report a nexus between the alleged offence and the suspects”. In a second report, the DPP stated that “With regards to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, since there is no departure from the earlier findings in the interim report, this office is still unable to establish any prima facie case against him for any offences of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide”. Based on the DPP’s advice, four suspects were charged in court by the Kwara State Government. They were convicted at the trial court and the conviction was upheld by the appellate court. The matter is now before the Supreme Court. Suddenly, the governor woke up after I granted my interview to Channels TV where I commented on the insecurity in the state and thought he could resurrect these baseless charges against his two predecessors. I noticed that in his propaganda plan to circulate his frivolous charges and other skewed documents as paid advertisements in the national newspapers, even before serving the defendants, he intentionally hid the DPP reports and other documents which put a lie to the charade he is perpetuating. These are deliberate efforts to mislead the media and induce them to give purchased publicity to the frame-up. Therefore, I am under no illusion that this case was a frivolous move and an abuse of court process to embarrass my person. My legal team will definitely meet this governor in court. I believe that Abdulrahman just feels that he could still use this case to harass and defame my person by abusing the judicial process. He had tried to induce the families of the victims to initiate civil litigations against the other respondents and me, but he seemed not to be making progress with that mischievous effort because the families backed out. I need to remind him that this vicious attack on my reputation because he enjoys the immunity of a governor is a huge joke on him. A sitting governor who is accusing his two immediate predecessors of armed robbery is only making a mockery of the institution. He is only taking the governorship of our dear state to the gutter. This is an example of dirty politics taken too far and too low. He ought to know that nobody at the national or state level is buying his claim. He is the butt of a crude joke. Many of those involved in the plot to blackmail me with the Offa robbery case have since faced the judgments of the law of karma. I do not doubt that this governor will end up the same way.

The decision in Ovivie v. Delta Steel Co. Ltd (2023) 14 NWLR (Pt. 1904) 203 offers a clear restatement of the evidential burden in wrongful termination claims within Nigerian labour jurisprudence. The Court reaffirmed that the burden squarely rests on the employee to establish

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors should not have to beg for what has already been agreed upon. The Federal Government signed a deal on the Professional Allowance Table, and now it wants to abandon it. This is not governance; it is betrayal. Our resident doctors are the last line of defence in hospitals that are already collapsing. They work gruelling hours, in impossible conditions, for pay that insults their sacrifice. And now, the government seeks to take away the little that was promised? The Tinubu administration must demonstrate commitment to the issues: 19 months of unpaid Professional Allowance arrears; promotion arrears gathering dust; a Medical Residency Training Fund stuck in bureaucratic limbo; and a government that treats its doctors as an afterthought and remains unconcerned as they flee the country in droves. Every doctor Nigeria loses to the UK, Canada, or Saudi Arabia is a failure of leadership, not a failure of patriotism. You cannot ask people to serve a nation that refuses to honour its own word. I stand with NARD. Pay what you owe. Honour what you signed. Or explain to 200 million Nigerians why their hospitals will go dark on Tuesday. -AA

As a young wig, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is increase your surface area for opportunity beyond your CV or optimised LinkedIn profile. Jobs or briefs will not come and find you where you are. By your surface area, I mean the number of rooms you enter, conversations you start, events you attend, and people you speak to. I have seen this happen too many times to call it a coincidence. The opportunities that change people’s trajectories rarely arrive through a formal process. They come through a person in a room; someone who knows someone, who heard something, who can make one phone call that changes everything. But that's only if you are there. Dear young person, the person who has what you need may already be in your city. They may be at the next conference, the next seminar, the next industry gathering you keep postponing. Go outside and attend the thing. Speak to the person next to you and ask the burning questions you have been sitting on. The more you show up, the more life has to work with. Timidity is for the rich. Aye soro soke lawayiii!!!. Rahma cares ✍️

Foundational Nupe Lawyer@egi_nupe·
As a lawyer, if you do not dress well, drive good car, and live in good environment, Nigerians will never respect you enough to pay you well. In fact, if you locate your office in a place they do not consider "classy enough", you will be called all sorts of things. A client who was invited by the police once told me "let us go with your own car (a toyota camry muscle 2009 model) so the police will not think I have money" and I got home extremely sad. So if you like, keep charging and collecting 5,000 naira when others are billing well, the same people hailing you for collecting 5,000 naira will be the same people to mock you with your faded suits, wig and gown and poor car. You see the lawyers they tag "charge and bail" today, it is not because these lawyers, especially the real ones" are not good enough or do not deliver results. It is simply because they prefer to collect "small money" to get the jobs done and move on to another one. Even though many of them are not generally poor, but they are always dressed in old, dirty and torn suits, poorly laced shoes and regarded as symbol of poverty and suffering in legal profession. But you see highly successful lawyers, they know their worth, they place the value on it and add tax to it. Guess what? When important and really big briefs fetching good money come, they do not go to those lawyers they pay cheap money or chicken change to survive. They go to big names in the profession and offer them really good money without stress. So as a lawyer, the choice is yours to make, to either be a symbol of poverty and highly regarded professional.

Oyo State Government
Oyo State Government@oyostategovt·
RESPONSE TO MISREPRESENTATION OF FACTS ON OYO STATE POWER PROJECTS BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF POWER The attention of the Oyo State Government has been drawn to certain inaccurate statements made by the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, regarding the status of power projects within the State. It is important to clearly set the records straight in the interest of the public. Firstly, the 11MW Independent Power Project (IPP) was indeed completed and partially operationalised. About 5MW was successfully commissioned, and it supplied electricity to critical government infrastructure at the Agodi Secretariat for approximately five months during its testing phase. However, it must be clearly stated that: • The project operated under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) arrangement. • Oyo State Government did not release capital funds to the contractor for the project, as the project was fully funded by the private investment. • Payments made were strictly for electricity consumed during the testing period, not for project execution. The limitation observed was not in generation alone but in distribution expansion, particularly the need to extend supply beyond the Secretariat to residential and commercial corridors such as Bodija–Total Garden axis. Efforts are ongoing to resolve these structural and commercial gaps with the project partners. PROGRESS ON THE 12MW IBADAN INDEPENDENT POWER (GAS) PROJECT In line with our forward-looking energy strategy, the State has commenced a more sustainable and technically robust project — the 12MW Ibadan Independent Power Gas Project. Current status: • The project is significantly advanced, with civil works, generator base infrastructure, and ancillary facilities well underway. • Transmission infrastructure is progressing, including installation of concrete poles and distribution fittings across key parts of Ibadan. • The project is designed not just for government use, but to serve strategic public institutions, street lighting, and expand to wider economic clusters. This project represents a shift from experimental power supply to a structured, scalable, and integrated electricity solution for Oyo State. While constructive criticism is welcome, it must be anchored on verified information. The statement by the Honourable Minister of Power is, therefore, clearly deficient in facts and does not reflect the true position of ongoing developments in Oyo State. Dear colleague, always have a letter of engagement with your client. Let it state the scope of work and the agreed fee. Clients can change position at any time, and what was once clear can quickly become disputed. This often leads to misunderstanding, abuse, or even insults to the lawyer. A proper engagement letter protects you and keeps the relationship defined. A word is enough for the wise.
