BYU QB Treyson Bourguet joined @espnthefan to break down the speed of this BYU team and his history with Kyler Kasper: Q: Is Evan Johnson as fast as Mory Bamba? Was Mory actually the fastest guy on the squad this last year? Treyson Bourguet: Well, the thing is, nobody ever saw me run full speed, so I don’t know if we’ll ever really be able to tell who’s the fastest. But seriously, Evan and Mory—they would go at it all the time whenever we’d do races. Some would say Mory was faster, some would say Evan was faster. I think it just depended on the day. Q: I’ve heard Joe Douglas tries to keep up with those guys. Who else is in that mix as far as fastest on the team? Treyson Bourguet: Yeah, our DB room is very, very fast. We’ve got Tommy Prassas—he’ll sneak up on people. Tre Alexander is really fast. Then you’ve got some sleepers like Kyler Casper—his speed will sneak up on you. JoJo Phillips too. And even some of the freshmen—Terrence is really fast, and Legend Glasker—those guys can roll. Q: Let’s talk about Kyler Casper—6’6”, 212, and he can move. He’s finally healthy. You kind of grew up with him, right? You may have even had a role in recruiting him to BYU. Tell us about Kyler and how he ended up here. Treyson Bourguet: Yeah, I’ve known Kyler since he was about 15 or 16 years old. He’s always been a great guy, great family—very athletic family. His dad’s awesome. We’ve always talked about teaming up in college, wherever that was going to be. When I got to BYU, one of the first things I wanted to do was recruit guys I knew—guys I grew up with or felt weren’t being fully utilized where they were. Me and Kyler had been working on this for a little over two years, and to finally get him here representing the Cougars—it’s been a ton of fun. I’m really excited for him to show what he’s capable of. Full interview: spreaker.com/episode/3-20-2… 📸: @BYUfootball @BYUphoto

Many have heard the news that our mom and dad were helping someone when strong winds came through the Ellwood City area and blew them off the porch. Mom suffered a fractured femur, bruised ribs, and a hematoma, and dad has some bumps and bruises but is okay. She is currently in the hospital and will be going to a rehab facility tomorrow. I flew in last night to be with them, and we are so grateful for all the prayers, messages, and support. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. 🙏 @DougTammaro

I’m honored to be rated a 3⭐ by @Rivals and @247Sports — and even more motivated knowing I’m just two points away from earning that 4⭐. The work continues!

Traded in my helmet for a headset and stepped into the coaching role the last month. So proud to coach our junior girls in the Powder Puff game.

@CodyTCameron But for every story like that you can find a kids story that is positive. Again, we’re ignoring the actual issues at hand. We’re blaming a sport. If this is the case we can make examples of every bad happening in life and say the same thing. I’m not defending bad 7’s events.

@TobyTucson What was the hypothetical story? Those were real conversations I’ve had with numerous local HS head coaches of exactly those things happening.

I see all you 7’s experts popping up in my thread. I’ll sit at a table with any of you and discuss the sport. The good, the bad and the ugly. But let’s not just paint an entire sport because of the few that ruin it. Let’s talk about everything in the world while we’re at it. 🙏🏼
