Federal Ministry of Health, NIGERIA
PRESS RELEASE FG OPENS TERTIARY HEALTH EXPANSION TO SUB-NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP Abuja, Nigeria | April 15, 2026 — The Federal Government is strengthening a more inclusive approach to health system expansion, broadening collaboration in tertiary healthcare delivery across sub-national actors, community leadership, and non-state partners as part of ongoing sector reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This direction was reinforced by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, during a courtesy visit by His Royal Majesty, Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo (Okporua I), Ovie of Udu Kingdom, Delta State. The engagement reflects the Federal Government’s broader push to deepen collaboration across states, local governments, and traditional institutions, building on outcomes from the National Health Sector Compact and the Traditional and Religious Leaders Health Summit held earlier this year, both of which emphasised shared responsibility in improving health outcomes. At the centre of discussions was the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Oviam, Udu Kingdom, one of several new tertiary facilities approved to expand access to specialised care and strengthen service delivery across underserved areas. Dr. Salako noted that the expansion of federal tertiary health institutions is being driven not only by infrastructure development but also by stronger alignment with local stakeholders to ensure sustainability, ownership, and continuity. He added that this approach reflects the President Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to translating national health priorities into tangible improvements in access and quality of care. To support the structured take-off of the facility, the Minister disclosed that a directive has been issued to the Medical Director to develop a five-year strategic plan to guide infrastructure development, staffing, service delivery, and budgeting. He added that groundwork for the hospital’s permanent site is expected to commence before the end of the administration’s first term. The Minister commended the Udu Kingdom for its support toward the take-off of the facility, including land and temporary site provision, as well as contributions from the community and partners such as the Oyeye Foundation. He emphasised the need to align all interventions with national standards, directing that the hospital’s digital systems integrate with existing Ministry frameworks. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom S. mni, underscored the importance of institutional coordination in sustaining the initiative, noting that the Ministry will continue to provide technical oversight and policy guidance to ensure full integration into the national health system. She emphasised that collaboration with sub-national and community actors will support effective implementation and long-term sustainability. In his remarks, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for approving the establishment of the medical centre, describing it as a significant milestone for the community. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the hospital’s immediate take-off and long-term sustainability. The engagement underscores a growing model of shared ownership in Nigeria’s health sector, where federal investments are complemented by sub-national coordination and community-level participation to drive improved access, quality, and resilience in healthcare delivery.   Ado Bako Assistant Director, Information & Public Relations

“I’m 45. I had my first at 41 after 3 IVF failures I got pregnant naturally. I was beginning to give up and found out in Valentine’s Day 2022 I was pregnant. Had my second at 44 last May. Super shocked because I wasn’t trying at all. I was content with just my 1 but God had other plans. It’s a lot of work and I’m super tired most of the time lol but I love my boys to infinity. I just feel now I’m more prepared and stable to be a mom.” @ sones310

24th January 2022. A day I can never forget. I went to eat at Buka Hut at gbagada, just to treat myself and have a good day. Halfway through, my PERIOD came unexpectedly… and I had no pad, no backup, nothing. I didn’t even know. After eating, I decided to get ice Cream, because why not spoil myself a little more? As I stood up, I noticed people staring… but I didn’t understand why. It wasn’t until I got to the ice cream stand that a guy walked up to me quietly and said: “Excuse me… your backside is stained. Please, take my jacket to cover up.” In that moment, I wanted the ground to open and swallow me. But his kindness… it calmed me. No noise. No embarrassment. Just respect. He gave me his jacket, wrapped it around me, and even offered to order me an Uber home. I insisted on paying, but honestly, I was just grateful someone chose kindness over ridicule. I asked how I’d return his jacket. He smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it.” But I took his number anyway…🥰 Today, that same man is my DARLING HUSBAND.😍 And funny enough, Buka Hut is still our favourite spot till today. ❤️ Sometimes, love doesn’t start with butterflies.🦋 Sometimes, it starts with kindness in your most vulnerable moment.✌🏼💖

You people enjoy eating turkey, but let me give you a small behind-the-scenes gist before it lands on your plate 😂🤣 First of all, turkeys will lay eggs and just… abandon them. No care in the world. Unlike chickens, they won’t sit on their eggs. They just act like nothing happened. So farmers either use incubators or sneak it under local chickens to hatch them. Now when the eggs finally hatch, you’d expect the babies (poults) to rush food like chicks abi? Not these ones. They will just be staring at the feed like mumu philosophers 😭 You literally have to teach them how to eat…tap the feed, make pecking sounds, even dip their beaks inside so they learn the first pecks. And it doesn’t end there… small noise, small panic…they stop eating again 😂🤣 Cold is another problem. Once they are cold, they gather together for warmth… and sometimes end up suffocating themselves. Most deaths happen in the first few days..from cold, hunger, dehydration, or piling. Asides the pest and disease (which I won’t want to bore you with) Then after surviving all that wahala… they grow up and start forming boss. Big birds chasing human beings up and down like landlords 😂🤣 If turkey never pursue you before, you won’t understand. So next time you’re enjoying that turkey meat, just remember…farmer don see shege before it reached your plate. Yes, na your money you use buy am… but still, respect the process 😌

I just met a friend who has never applied for jobs on Upwork or LinkedIn. She doesn’t job hunt. She uses secret remote job websites. These companies pay daily in USD for night shift roles that 99% of people will never see. Here are 12 hiring this week:
