Do We Know How to Protect the Baltic? We are increasingly hearing about Russian sabotage, the shadow fleet, violations of territorial waters, and airspace intrusions - but do we truly know how to defend the Baltic? Since Finland and Sweden joined NATO, the Baltic Sea has effectively become an internal NATO sea, with nearly its entire coastline under Alliance control. This is a monumental geopolitical shift. While Russia’s freedom of maneuver is now limited, and NATO has gained an advantage in controlling the waters and critical infrastructure, this does not bring comfort to anyone, because gaps in that control remain. What is NATO doing about this, and how is Sweden - our key maritime partner - preparing? This is especially fascinating in the context of Sweden’s military modernization, open tenders, and the decision-making process for domestic vs. foreign procurement - all overseen by @FMV_Sweden. If you’d like to dive deeper, perhaps the article’s author, @JustBudginaite, could suggest some insightful sources. Or maybe experts like @patrikoksanen and @wisemanswisdoms could weigh in with their perspectives? atlanticcouncil.org/in-depth-resea…

🇷🇴 The Romanian parliament has received a budget request from the army for the procurement of 232 KF-41 Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicles worth 2,6 billion € which is to be funded through the European SAFE initiative. The remaining 60 vehicles that were initially intended to be procured will now be ordered at a later date through the army's regular budget. Criticism has been levied against the choice for the Lynx due to the higher-than-anticipated cost of the project and supposed "unfair" treatment of other bids like the South Korean AS-21 Redback. defenseromania.ro/e-oficial-roma…
