🤦The 50p tax rate was supposed to raise £2.7bn a year. It raised £1bn. The Energy Profits Levy was forecast at £41.6bn. It raised £17.4bn. The non-dom abolition was meant to raise £34bn. It may raise nothing.
📉This is not bad luck. It is a pattern.

I've noticed amongst friends who have little kids that they are basically forced into waking up when they do. When I was little I remember v clearly knowing that we shouldn't go and wake parents until at least 9am on a weekend, and generally entertaining ourselves in the morning

The hate marches with antisemitic imagery and chants were not halted.

Usual round of boiler-plate condemnation this morning. But if you argue cafes linked to the Jewish community represent "aggression" then it's not a great leap to thinking ambulances represent "aggression". Or anything else that has an even remotely Jewish locus.

Rachel Reeves is planning to hike Fuel Duty for the first time in 15 years at the WORST possible moment.
Last week at the Spring Statement she knew full well that global instability was pushing oil prices up again. Instead of helping families and businesses, she chose to pat herself on the back.
Now motorists across the country face the double hit of rising petrol prices and higher fuel tax.
This is Labour’s instinct: higher taxes and the wrong priorities.

Nigel Farage gets asked: “Last year your leaflets said you wouldn’t increase council tax. Yet councils under Reform UK have raised it by 3.99%.”
His response? “I never said that… and if I did, cutting taxes means reducing the amount you increase them by.”
