Is Graham Platner’s marriage a sham for political reasons? - Let me explain. Downeast Maine is a hotbed of gossip. Living here for decades, one thing I’ve found is that downeast Maine gossip is always rooted in a kernel of truth. With 10-15k people in a 20 mile radius, word gets around quick. The strange case of Platner’s marriage keeps popping up recently, especially within downeast maine women’s circles. The “word on the street” was that his political recruiters told him to get married quick to make him more appealing to voters. Ive heard accounts from women who dated him who think something is fishy here. These women think something is off, that his wife is “too vanilla”, “too regular”, “too central casting” and their BS radar is on high alert. He went from playboy of Sullivan to happily married man in the blink of an eye. His overlapping dating app activity with his marriage date shows potential infidelity from the start, if in fact this is a real marriage at all. Is her $1800 biweekly salary paid out of campaign money a payoff to continue a charade or is she the most naive woman on the planet? As with all gossip, some parts aren’t true, but I’ve lived here long enough to know Downeast Maine gossip is usually more right than wrong.
