I never remember my generation, or the one before, decrying people who received the state pension as some sort of scrounger class.
What has happened to people?
What is clear cut is that those with degrees have contempt for those without.
Try getting a real job one day, build something, run something.
Have some god damn respect. 😡
The answer to the young people complaining how well off the older generation are is for their parents and grandparents to change their wills and leave their money to charity. Perhaps then young people would have to work as hard and make sacrifices as their forefathers did.
I will have to work nearly 500 hours, in order to make what the average family is going to get in extra benefits once the 2 child cap has been lifted.
They don’t have to get out of bed
WRONG on every level
@treblewinners99@SandyofSuffolk Well isn't she lucky that her health has permitted her do that, Laura! The fact that you people think everyone starts on the same footing and is awarded the same opportunities is becoming fucking nauseating!
@SandyofSuffolk Same here our son and daughter own their own house have done in early 20’s both worked daughter from 14 in local hotel .. never stopped since then when going to college too only time she had time off was maternity leave !! Neither ever claimed a benefit !! Neither have I ..
My daughter owns her own house in West Sussex.
My two stepdaughters own their own houses in Cornwall.
My eldest grandson is buying his own house, on his own, in Lancashire.
My eldest granddaughter is buying her own flat, on her own, in East Sussex.
Because they have a work ethic and aren't spendthrifts.
@timsoret@DarkAdapted@AlaskanCourtney We MAGA believe we are already at war. Asymmetrical warfare has been raging all over democracies - driven by CCP/Russia/Iran and their Marxist/Jihadist sympathizers in the leftist ranks.
As a European, I apologize to Americans for all the idiocy coming from our side.
You save your pilots no matter the cost.
You send humans to the moon.
You fight authoritarianism head-on.
It's truly inspiring.
We're on the wrong side of the moral equation.
@timsoret@DarkAdapted@AlaskanCourtney Can you provide evidence that Iran was preparing for war because so far, not even that stupid Orange cunt in the white house has!
I also much prefer diplomacy, compromise & iterative progress.
But they are times where strength & courage & moral clarity to make tough decisions is needed. And we are entering such an era.
The previous status quo is gone. Russia is at war. Iran was preparing. And China is preparing today. We can’t afford to be naive. I wish we were all peaceful & friendly but I’m not sure it’s possible anymore, and it’s not because of us. We really tried tying our economies to Russia for example, hoping they would become more like us. only to be betrayed & realize that the only thing we achieved was strengthening someone considering us as an enemy.
@PeterMcCormack@UncleSteveOG My 19 year old daughter studied politics and you're telling me she doesn't understand what she's voting for and will choose "vibes" but my 65 year old mum who doesn't pay attention to politics at all, understands exactly what she's voting for??? FOH!
I’d like policies which help young people:
- No income tax until 25
- No stamp duty until 25
- No welfare until 25
- No minimum wage ever
But also…
- No voting until 25
@anjie_jones@DugdillVicky@writethewrongs2@sophielouisecc@rolandbullivant The cap can only be disregarded if the child is in receipt of DLA, the working family is also able to claim DLA for their disabled child as it's not means tested. You're implying that a diagnosis alone will remove the cap and automatically increase their money, it doesn't!
@DugdillVicky@writethewrongs2@sophielouisecc@rolandbullivant My point is as someone who works having a disabled child gets you no monetary increase. Those on benefits get the "cap" disregarded they can get much more one of mine needs 24 hour eyes on so severe he gets overnight carers so I can sleep regardless if I work or not
Some families on universal credit are getting the equivalent take home pay of a £71k salary for doing the square root of fuck all
Do you really think I’m going to be angry at pensioners getting a pension that’s less than most of Europe - that they have earned
No - no im not
They aren’t the problem
@DugdillVicky@writethewrongs2@sophielouisecc@rolandbullivant Have two autistic children myself and always worked, i am quite aware it's not fun, however, listening to parents advise each other trust me lots want the diagnosis for the extra cash,
@123db_GEEK@2147mill So everytime something goes wrong with my dialysis port and I need to visit A&E I should be charged and when I can't afford to visit and my port isn't working am I supposed to just die?
@2147mill The NHS could be made to work if they charged for the service up front and you claimed it back based on the work done and your financial status.
People don't overload a system where there is a chance they have to be financially responsible for their actions.
Controversial opinion: The UK should have no NHS. We should take responsibly for our own health, our own emergency savings and not be so reliant on the state.
@ShakdamC Yeah, I always laugh when the new "woke right" bang on about the Jews killing Jesus and how they meltdown over the term Judaeo-Christian. No logic or critical thinking at all!
That will upset a few ... it shouldn't but here goes:
Jesus was not a “Christian”; he was a Jew living, teaching and dying as part of the Jewish people.
He was born to a Jewish mother, raised in a Jewish community, kept Shabbat and Jewish festivals, and taught from the Hebrew Bible in synagogues. His arguments were with other Jews, inside a Jewish conversation about law, justice and God – not against Judaism itself.
Remembering that Jesus was Jewish matters. It cuts straight across centuries of antisemitism that tried to turn “Jesus” into a weapon against the very people he belonged to. If your faith, culture or curiosity brings you to Jesus, it should also bring you to a basic truth: without the Jewish people, there is no story to tell.
@AndrewR90805764@ThenonbinaryC@RedPavlova@premnsikka As someone with an autistic 19 year old who is really struggling, I have to agree, not so much the social media aspect for him because he's never used it but the lack of early years support and school pressures, definitely!!
@ThenonbinaryC@RedPavlova@premnsikka I’m not blaming young people. Economic pressure, housing and long NHS waits are real. But that isn't the whole story. The rise is concentrated in mental health, & we have to ask why - social media, schooling pressure & early support failures all play a role.
Next week’s disability benefit cuts will make people destitute.
Families face eviction, lack of food and heating, lose access to the care they need.
Govt could cut corporate welfare, collect taxes dodged, tax the rich, but vulnerable are easy targets.

Millions of Britons don't vote in every election - and those who do skew older and wealthier.
If everyone had to vote, would it produce fairer results - or should participation always be a choice?
I need advice. My wife is really good friends with a girl from work and come to find out she is MAGA. They’ve been hanging out a bit which is fine, but now I'm being asked to go out on double-dates with her hubs and I'm not hanging out with fucking MAGA. Am I being unreasonable?
