That honestly sounds horrible. Now that I’m in my 30s I have become much more conscious of investing for the long run but I blew money thru my 20s like I wouldn’t live to see another year (metaphor) and I traveled the world and made and continue to make amazing memories. Buy that flight, book that concert ticket, go to that random festival, travel the world while you’re young. No point in saving money to do all the things you want to do then dying

My uncle saved $800,000 for retirement. Lived on nothing for 30 years to do it. Brown bag lunches. No Vacations. Same car for 14 years. Clipped coupons until the very end. Died with $800,000 in the bank. His kids split it. Spent it in 18 months. He saved 30 years of living for people who spent it in a year and a half without thinking about him while they did.

She compared the United States today to a banana republic. You can’t make this stuff up… This is coming from the former Treasury Secretary who FAILED to lock in ultra-low long-term interest rates and instead issued too much short-term debt, leaving the United States exposed to higher borrowing costs as rates rose. This was a massive mistake.
