Found this handsome spider on Gorse beneath Scots Pine. To me, looks suspiciously like a poorly marked Araniella displicata! What do you think? @BritishSpiders

Some amazing finds whilst counting ladybirds in Retford Cemetery! Hawthorn and Juniper Shieldbugs, Pogonocherus hispidus and, best of all, two Ledra aurita nymphs!

While I was underwater in Lake Geneva looking for catfish, this great crested grebe unexpectedly appeared, probably looking for a fish. He was a little startled by this strange thing in the water, stopped, and then quickly disappeared.

Fairly delighted to find a Yellow-browed Warbler in my garden in Newark this morning; I thought I was hearing things at first, but when it flew into a tree just above my head there was no doubting it!

Visited Coombes Valley for the first time yesterday and spotted this gorgeous Leiopus nebulosus agg. Such a beautiful beetle!

Impressive display of lightning over Retford at the moment!

Lots of fantastic birds at Spurn today, but the only migrants I managed to photograph were moths. Rush Veneer and Silver Y - obviously hungry after a such a long journey!

Thrilled to have this group of Cramp-ball Fungus Weevils (Platyrhinus resinosus) pointed out to me in South Shropshire last Wednesday, a first for me. What stunners!

There’s a reason Frampton Marsh is one of my favourite reserves. Saw 26 species of wader this morning! Temminck’s Stint and this lovely Baird’s Sandpiper were the highlights, but fantastic to see flocks of Greenshank and thousands of Dunlin.

A couple of nice moths drawn to security lights in the last few days. Pebble Hook-tip and Lesser Swallow Prominent.

Had a great day out in York seeing my first Tansy Beetles. They’re gorgeous!
