"Carleton On Sea" A trip around the flooding in Carleton In Craven, UK. The River Aire floodplains are effectively doing their routine task of absorbing the floodwaters, but one car decided to risk a flooded road and got stuck. © Tom Holmes / buff.ly/2q2s0de

"Hadrian's Wall" Stretching 73 miles across the rugged northern landscape of England, is a remarkable relic of the Roman Empire. Constructed on the orders of Emperor Hadrian in AD 122, this fortified boundary marked the northern limit of Roman Britain.

"Wishful Thinking" Hoping to do better than last night I took a trip up to Malham Cove (Yorkshire Dales National Park, UK) to try and capture the Northern Lights. Sadly the storm seems to have passed and there was not a lot to be seen.

"Hint of Aurora" Taken overlooking Carleton in Craven, near Skipton (North Yorkshire, UK). I have tried this shot before, for the North Lights, but the light polution got in the way and the results were poor. (re-edit of earlier, half-asleep, version) © Tom Holmes

"An Amble In The Shambles" The Shambles in York, UK is a charming and picturesque street that dates back to the medieval times. The narrow, cobbled lanes are lined with overhanging timber-framed buildings that lean towards each other, creating a tunnel-like effect.

"Eclipse Throwback" Watching the solar eclipse happening above North America right now reminds me of the partial eclipse I was able to witness just over 9 years ago. While not a total eclipse it was still very interesting to witness, and photograph, through a break in the clouds.

"Helmsley in Spring" The 'picture postcard' village of Helmsley (North Yorkshire, UK) has been on my list of places to visit for years. I finally got chance the other week while on my whistle-stop tour of North Yorkshire to capture some spring images for my 2025 calendars.
