Really enjoyed the opportunity to share how we are using our new science space at @WAB_LIVE to empower our learners in my participant-led workshop at the @Learning2 conference in Bangkok. So inspiring to see what other educators are doing to prepare learners for the future, too!

3. D) Research into how minerals our used and affect our daily lives. Meanwhile the Grade 6s have been showing their understanding of their foundational unit ‘Science Bootcamp’ by conducting an experiment using bubble gum, toy cars, or soap depending on their preference.

1. Our new science space at @WAB_LIVE has been buzzing over the last 2 weeks. Our mixed age-group (G7 & G8) cohort was able to choose exploration topics offered by our MS Sciences team to dive deeper into our geology unit.

Students are having a blast showing off their knowledge of ecosystems by randomly generating biomes with dice and creating organism that would live there. It reminded me of Alien Worlds on Netflix, so I showed it at the start to inspire ideas. I love the end-of-year projects!

Our Grade 6s @WAB_LIVE created different atmosphere’s using soda tablets, clingfilm, and temperature probes to explore #SDG 13. Fortunately, the weather was nice enough for us to use the sun as a heat source measure CO2’s heat absorbance!

Then, we saw a 4-5 year old coral nursery. We found broken coral along the way and reattached them in rock crevices. An amazing experience overall. It is worrying that coral reefs face so much danger, but it was inspiring to see the work being done first hand to protect them!

Their findings were pretty consistent with our prior research - smaller slices, boiled slices, more slices = ⬆️voltage, clearer&louder sound. Awesome experience for the kids (and me!🤪). (2/2)

in G6 science @WAB_LIVE we challenged students to hook a potato battery to a circuit to play music on a LED reactive audio board. They chose their own IV (# of 🥔slices, size of 🥔slices, ⏱️🥔was boiled for, or type of metal put into the potato), and measured the V. (1/2)

#Day9 at @WAB_LIVE allowed the opportunity to share a new hobby of mine with the Grade 6 and Grade 7 students. Sharing my (still limited, admittedly) knowledge of flag football with them was a blast! 💥🏈

Final lessons of our Chem Kitchen unit at @WAB_LIVE. Ss made pH indicator using red cabbage and tested kitchen items on a paint palette. Threw in some items that weren’t clear to begging with which made for interesting method analysis by Ss. Good fun in the lab, as always!
