@GreyskullPBI I've imported both SQL Create scripts and staged empty dbs solely for the purposes of importing into ER tools. I honestly don't remember which tool it was, but that's a possible secondary route if Visio ERD supports that same import function.

If I have a list of database field names in Excel, it feels like I ought to be able to paste them in to a Visio ERD diagram as opposed to re-hand typing everything - anyone know any tricks?

@GregBaldini For learners I typically work with, I found a didactic & conceptual approach intimidated & obscured. These are smart folks, but not programmers. I can see benefits of didactic/conceptual w/ folks that have SQL+MDX background you mention, less so for citizen analysts (IME, YMMV)

@TomHug I always strive to teach DAX as I would any other programming language, and that means hewing closely to the didactic methods and conceptual progression in Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs, starting from primitives, means of combination, and means of abstraction.

@ehansalytics Wow. You're in dire straights, then. Yikes. I get no joy from PowerPoint either, but Teams is the only app that actually affects my blood pressure.

@TomHug Teams is my best friend compared to Power Point.

I'm just going to get this out right now... This is wrong. It's a very very bad thing. But I choose to do it anyway. It's Sessionize data for SQL Saturday, a small record set but wrong still wrong (am I right?). If you're a @MSPowerBI junkie, you know what I'm talking about.

Who else copy/pastes text into Notepad and then copy/pastes the same text back into their original app just to remove formatting?

@sqlcheesecake I’m with you. For recreation, I seek 100% analog and IRL activities (music, hiking, photography, motorcycling, cooking). On paper, I ‘should’ be into gaming, but it’s too close to what I do professionally. And when I see a game I always think, “How did they code that?”
