THREAD SIX of CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA (numbers 50 to 59) CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.50 INVENTING A GROSS INSULT MADE BY YOUR OPPONENT can be highly effective propaganda to rally and to rouse your own side. Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August 1914 and the British Expeditionary Force under General French soon landed in France to oppose the much larger German Army. On 24 September, B.E.F. published what purported to be a translation of an Order made on 19 August by the German Kaiser Wilhelm II. The Order read that the German Army should, “exterminate the treacherous English, and walk over General French’s contemptible little army …” Actually, Kaiser Wilhelm never said this. It was an inspired piece of British propaganda. The propaganda was not aimed at the enemy but at the British people themselves. They were open to believing that the Kaiser had actually said this and would not be concerned, as happened after the war, that it was shown to have been invented. The British made very good use of this supposed insult to raise support for the war and to encourage men to enlist. Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty, and others used it as centrepieces of their speeches to attract recruits. Arthur Conan Doyle wrote articles using the alleged insult to whip up patriotic fervour. The soldiers of the B.E.F., in time, embraced the insult. In Westminster Abbey, there is a plaque as below. “Remember THE OLD CONTEMPTIBLES The British Expeditionary Force which served in Flanders within range of the enemy mobile artillery between 5 August and 22 November 1914. At the first battle of Ypres their stand against a force of ten times their number prevented the German advance against the Channel ports”

The Gaza Genocide is the best evidenced genocide in history DENYING the Gaza Genocide is as vile, disgusting, and repugnant as DENYING the Holocaust
Roy K. Altman@RoyKAltman

Here’s 5 ways to know there was no genocide in Gaza: 1. Military Advocate Generals (MAG). In Israel, advice from the MAG, which is their version of America’s Judge Advocate Generals (JAG), is a mandatory order that must be followed. And we have seen firsthand dozens and dozens of videos where MAGs have canceled strikes to protect the civilian population in Gaza. 2. The High-Level Military Group. The HLMG, an organization of the top-level officers and generals in every Western army in the world, including ours, has submitted a brief to the International Criminal Court (ICC), detailing the tremendous efforts Israel's army goes through on a daily basis to warn the enemy civilian population before it attacks a particular area.
The HLMG says not only is it the most sophisticated warning system of its kind in the world, they say that their armies would never be allowed to implement it because their civilian populations would never allow it because it tells the enemy where you are going to strike in advance in order to protect civilian life. This results in more casualties for Israel. 3. The Polio vaccination program. When it became clear that there were rumors of a polio outbreak in Gaza, Israel brought its doctors into a war zone and vaccinated 99% of the children in Gaza for free.
Ask yourself this question: Would the Nazis have gone through the trouble to vaccinate the Jewish kids before they were being pushed into the gas chambers? The question is absurd even to ask it. 4. Past false genocide claims. The Palestinians have claimed that Israel has perpetrated not one, but five separate genocides on them in Gaza since the Israeli disengagement of 2005. This despite the fact that the Gazan population has more than doubled during that 20-year period from one million in 2005 to 2.2 million today. 5. Top experts note Israel’s historic achievement in preserving life in urban warfare. As John Spencer, Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute at West Point, and Richard Kemp, a former British Army officer and top intelligence official in England have written, Israel has the lowest militant-to-civilian kill ratio in the history of urban warfare.

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.56 FALSE BALANCE or BOTH-SIDEISM is effective propaganda. It may seem that giving both sides of a story is fair, but both sides do not necessarily deserve equal weight or respect. Proper journalism requires an assessment of the evidence and of the credibility of what is being said, including providing relevant context. Flat Earthers are not now given a platform to argue what they believe, which for millennia was the accepted view. In recent decades, the overwhelming consensus among climate change scientists (and the deteriorating climate) has meant that climate scientists can now appear in the media without the necessity of climate change deniers also appearing “for balance”. The Israelis are currently holding Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, effectively as a hostage as discussed in Calling Out Propaganda No.55. Yesterday, in a BBC bulletin, the news reader read out an IDF statement about Dr Abu Safiya which said that he was suspected of involvement in terrorist activity and held a rank within Hamas and that hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters had used the Kamal Adwan Hospital, where he was the Director, as a base. What the BBC did not say was that the Israelis have produced no proof of any of this. Dr Abu Safiya has not been charged with anything, let alone stood trial. Furthermore, the Israelis have made regular identical accusations that their victims in Gaza are involved with Hamas and that hospitals are bases for terrorism, without ever producing any evidence. The BBC did not say that Dr Abu Safiya is effectively a hostage and, without evidence of their grave allegations, Israel is breaching the Geneva Conventions and committing a war crime. Instead, by means of “false balance”, the BBC suggested the Israelis may somehow be justified in their holding Dr Abu Safiya.

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.58 DENIALS can take many forms and can be effective propaganda. Stanley Cohen wrote a book called States of Denial in 2001. He examined - among other issues - how perpetrators of atrocities deny them. In the 1990s, Cohen worked with the Israeli human rights organisation, B’Tselem, researching allegations of Israeli torture against Palestinian detainees. B’Tselem and Cohen found accounts of routine use of torture were credibly confirmed by numerous sources. When they made their findings public, Cohen noted different types of denials by the Israeli authorities. 1.Furious outright denial – “it does not happen”. 2.Discrediting of the organisation and individuals presenting the evidence – “they are biased, manipulated or gullible”. 3.Renaming – “yes it sometimes happens but it is not torture”. 4.Justification – “anyway, what we did was morally justified”. It is quite easy to identify these four types of denial being used to deny atrocities in 2026.

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.59 COGNITIVE DISSONANCE occurs when someone receives persuasive information which contradicts their already existing strongly held belief. At that moment, the person holds two contradictory ideas in their head at the same time. Cognitive dissonance is the uncomfortable, jarring, sometimes painful, sensation they then feel. They want the sensation to stop as soon as possible and they have two choices: either properly consider the new information and perhaps change their belief, or simply reject the new information, unexamined, and retain the old belief. Very often people reject the new information, unexamined, particularly if the old belief is something that is held so strongly that it goes to the core of their personality. This may well necessitate them rationalising, inventing spurious reasons to justify themselves. They can often be defensive or angry. This process can be seen frequently, whenever someone identifies strongly with a group – national, religious, party or whatever – and are confronted with evidence that their group has done something appalling. Propagandists use their knowledge of the psychological process to manipulate “true believers” facing the painful feeling of cognitive dissonance and keen to be given reasons to help them to rationalise rejecting the new information and to cling on to their old belief.

I am a British Jew Zionism is NOT to be confused with Judaism Zionism is less than 150 years old (First Zionist Congress was 1897) Judaism is around 4,000 years old The actions of the “Jewish State”, Israel, are anathema to the central tenets of Judaism

The Gaza Genocide HAS been proven There is more evidence for it than any other genocide in history It is proven no less than the Holocaust is proven Those that deny either of these - the Holocaust or the Gaza Genocide - are the most despicable, vile, cruel people imaginable
Sage Despatches@SageDespatches

It can't be "genocide denial" unless genocide has been proven - which it hasn't. Accusing someone of genocide denial in relation to Gaza, is to assume that genocide in Gaza is an irrefutable fact, when it is not an irrefutable fact. Denial of the Holocaust would be Holocaust denial, as the Holocaust is a proven fact.

.@realzoestrimpel The genocide-denial & genocide-justifying of Boy George is NOT “unabashed support for Jews” It is support for Israel MANY Jews in UK & millions globally are disgusted & appalled by Israel’s apartheid, occupations, war crimes, crimes against humanity & GENOCIDE
CIoJ@CIoJournalist

Zoe Strimpel writes for Telegraph: "Boy George’s unabashed support for Jews makes him the man of the decade. The pop star’s new song, inspired by the Nova Festival, offers a beacon of hope for those still coming to terms with the Oct 7 massacre." See: telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2026/0…

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.57 COVER-UP is a potent form of propaganda. Cover-up can take many forms. Here I look at two examples. After 7 October 2023, Israel imposed a blanket ban on all visits by the Red Cross to their prisons. Such a ban is very rare, globally. Last month, June 2026, the Israeli High Court ruled that the ban was unlawful. However, according to Israeli paper Haaretz, the Israeli prison service has introduced a new visiting regime for the Red Cross that is so restrictive that it effectively defies the Court Order. By preventing the Red Cross from being eyewitnesses, Israel has probably been able to cover-up the true extent of abuse and torture of Palestinian prisoners. On 23 June 1944, the Red Cross visited the Theresienstadt concentration camp. However, the Nazis carried out an extraordinary cover-up, an elaborate hoax. The Nazis spent months preparing in order to hide the true nature of the camp. When the Red Cross visited, they were shown happy prisoners. The prisoners had been fed well and given new clothes for the Red Cross visit. Gardens had been planted. A band played waltzes, prisoners performed an opera. The Red Cross were shown a fake synagogue, fake shops, fake schools, fake cafes. The Nazis produced a propaganda film to show how well the prisoners were being treated. After the Red Cross visit and the filming, the Nazis then returned the camp to its usual state and continued deportations to death camps, including of those who appear in the film. The cover-up at Theresienstadt stands as a warning as to how reality can be manipulated.

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.55 WHICH WORDS ARE USED, MANIPULATE UNDERSTANDING Dr Hussam Abu Safiya should be properly described as a “hostage”, not as a “prisoner” or as a “detainee”. The Israelis seized by Hamas in clear breach of international law, on 7 October 2023, were then held as hostages. Rightly, there was a powerful and sustained campaign in Western countries demanding the “release of the hostages”. However, there are thousands – perhaps up to 10,000 – other hostages being held by Israel. The West does not call these people “hostages”. Instead, it accepts the Israeli description and calls them “prisoners” or sometimes “detainees”. But “hostage” is a better description for those held by Israel in so-called “administrative detention”. These people are taken against their will. They are not charged - let alone convicted – and are not told the alleged evidence or even told the accusation against them. There are credible reports of torture of these hostages held by Israel. Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of a major Gaza hospital, has been held without charge and imprisoned by Israel since 2024. He is now, on 7 July 2026, reported to be in immediate life-threatening danger. There are widespread protests in his support. The demand to “release the hostages” should apply not only to the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. It should apply to Dr Hussam Abu Safiya and also to the thousands of Palestinian hostages held by Israel, including hundreds of children. The BBC and other UK media should report the underlying facts of the Palestinians’ incarceration and report that they are effectively hostages - and not simply accept the words used by the Israelis.

CALLING OUT PROPAGANDA No.54 DISTRACTION, never-ending stimulation, can manipulate and oppress people no less than Orwell’s “boot stamping on a human face - forever”. Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World (1931) and George Orwell’s 1984 (1948) offer very different dystopian visions. In 1985, Neil Postman wrote about them in Amusing Ourselves to Death. Postman’s words should alarm us in 2026. “We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn't, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell's dark vision, there was another - slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Huxley's Brave New World. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think. What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, [those] who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "fail to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions."
