Almost laughable at this point how good Declan Rice is. Just dominates in every aspect of the game. The pass he plays to Odegaard for the winner was an example of how he drives this team on. Refused to accept dropped points in this game with the chance to go top on the line.

When a trophy is in sight, you start your best players. Simple as that. Failure to might have cost Arsenal. Not ruthless enough. Arsenal owe Kepa nothing.

Will happily take a ‘boring’ style of football over the entertainment Newcastle have served up for us all. One of the most naive performances at this level you’ll ever see. I’ve not really understood how Eddie Howe hasn’t been under more pressure to this point. He should be now.

Good job Arsenal have already negotiated the fee for Hincapié. On that evidence, Leverkusen have let him go for peanuts. Might end up being the best of the eight summer signings at this rate.

When we won the league at Highbury in 1953, Arsenal were 3-2 up at home to Burnley and manager Tom Whittaker didn’t watch the last 10 minutes. He went to his office for a double brandy and waited for the final whistle because he couldn’t bear it.

Mad stat I clocked this morning. Since 1953, Arsenal have only one the league title on home soil once (1998). 1971 and 2004 were away at Spurs 1989 was away at Anfield 1991 was without even playing 2002 was away at Old Trafford

@sampilger What a bizarre, simplistic way to analyse a player’s influence on a team. Bruno has been excellent but almost as if playing half the minutes Rice will have played this season is a help? Just a thought.

That moment can’t be another Reiss Nelson vs Bournemouth-esque false dawn. Something that seismic just can’t. That feels like a huge step but it’s still only a step. Two more huge matches before a break some of these players look desperate for. Game by game.

Lost for words after that. Didn’t want to speak it into existence but I reckon that was Arsenal’s second toughest league game left after the City away game. That is HUGE. A helping hand from Jordan Pickford. Oh and Max Dowman. Insane how good this kid is already. Wow.

@AuGrowler Well done for proving my point. Hurzeler an embarrassment for running his mouth off given Brighton's form in the league this season. Half of his fanbase want him out.

@TomMarshall_B Yep no one likes arteta. Definitely most unlikeable. And good on hurzeler on calling him out. He’s always tried to play beautiful game.

If Arteta had spent as much time asking for opposition players to be booked as Hurzeler and had come out with those post-match comments, this app would have exploded. He's one of the most unlikeable managers in the league.

Been clear how little respect Arteta has for Hurzeler since his gaslighting around the Rice red card last season. Has every right to be fuming at the nonsense he's come out with tonight.

The team at the bottom of the league just took seven points from their last three home games against Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool, scoring in stoppage time in each. Sounds like a pretty competitive league to me.

This is the stage of the season where substance matters entirely over style. Arsenal aren’t accountable to neutrals watching Super Sunday who don’t like goals being scored from corners. The job today - as it is in all of Arsenal’s remaining matches - is to win. That’s it.

Can't believe how badly we've been managing games and/or leads this calendar year. It's basically a different team to what we were watching August-December.

Arsenal won that because David Raya is an elite goalkeeper and Robert Sanchez is the complete opposite. Huge win that.

Gyokeres’ most other impressive game before today was probably Newcastle away and that was a game where Eze looked brilliant too. Difficult to draw too many conclusions today against such woeful opposition but it feels like that partnership hasn’t had enough gametime together.

Not sure Mark Clattenburg blaming Vinicius for celebrating his goal and saying he’s made the referee’s life difficult is a good look here. What on earth is he going on about? Extraordinary thing to say, twice, on TV

13 goals in all competitions and counting for Viktor Gyokeres. Well on course to get past 20 this season which would have been seen as a solid return when he signed. Squad management today was spot on - bringing him on when space opened up benefited him and Martinelli hugely.
