Facebook remind me that I celebrated #IndependenceDay 2010 in Afghanistan. @SenJohnMcCain used to celebrate the holiday on the road, too, with troops. He and Sens. Graham and Lieberman joined my media team and me for a press conference to discuss the trip.

@bstarrreports I was on Capitol Hill working for Rep. Duncan Hunter, watching for news of my Marine tank commander brother moving north into Iraq. I was also a Navy Reserve officer. Had no thought of whether we'd be here in 23 years.
