Powerlessness is an illusion.
An Ethiopian driver I met while traveling yesterday was deeply concerned, and deeply embittered about the state of the country and the world.
ICE, raids. Business was bad. Agitation and uncertainty everywhere.
He felt powerless to change the country and what was happening.
“What is free speech if nothing changes?” “You vote and nothing changes.”
But it wasn’t reserved for America. “Ethiopia has a piece of ___ Prime Minister who is waging war against ____ so he can stay in power.” (Apparently a renowned warrior people within the country who are universally loved)
“In Ethiopia they don’t let you say what you want because they are scared of change”
Deep anger at a feeling powerless is common.
Probing deeper my driver was recently the recipient of 60 acres of land for farming and he’s 2 months from returning home starting a business that will impact his family and community.
When we spoke about what a gift to be able to impact people positively he shifted. No longer powerless and angry but powerful and hopeful.
Most of us cannot change the larger forces at play around us anymore than we can shift the tides or the weather.
But it doesn’t mean we are powerless.
Every human can make a difference in themselves and the world they immediately touch.
Start where you are, with what you have.
You are powerful and what you focus on you will create in yourself.
Focus on powerlessness and you will find it everywhere. Focus on being of contribution and love and you will find it just as easily.
Love too all.

The future doesn’t belong to people who memorized answers.
It belongs to people who sense the questions before anyone thinks to ask.
The old system tested your ability to follow orders. The new one tests your ability to move through the UNKNOWN. And the machine can’t help you with that part.
That part is entirely on you.

@TomRossTalks @Kekius_Sage So true my dear Tom!!
Funny enough the mind wants stability on what NEVER was🤣 The mind thinks we see people and things as they are😆

And this is why my frenemies get all upset that I am not who I was MONTHS ago🙄...

What you don't Master, Masters YOU
Most think Mastery = Perfection
But is not, mastery its a paradigm to operate from, opposite to the performance paradigm most people live from accidentally & don't know it.
(All of us behaviorally live in one or the other; Mastery orientation promotes persistence, challenge seeking, and intrinsic growth..
while performance orientation drives failure avoidance, competition, and extrinsic validation..🤓)
How about we master our lives? ❤️👽

I so wish EVERY parent would know that our kids aren't watching our best moments, their UNCONSCIOUS minds are downloading our DEFAULT.
Mirror neurons don't copy what we brilliantly say. They copy how we behave when no one's looking.
We are not just raising children. We are programming their futures. 🥹🥹

"How are you able to just run retreats in places you've never been?"
The truth is, I don't think about it much anymore.
If I have an idea to run a retreat in a cool place, I'll whip up the website, put it out there, and see what the response is.
I don't really second-guess if I'm "ready."
I trust that when the moment comes, and the people arrive, I'll know exactly what to do.
But it wasn't always like this.
The first time I co-hosted a men's retreat in Austin, Texas, in 2024, I was nervous as hell.
I think I was the youngest of the 10 or so people there.
I was scared to say the wrong thing in front of the group or to give the wrong advice to someone asking me a question.
I thought I had to be some enlightened spiritual guru who had mastered all his desires to be worthy of organizing and hosting a retreat.
And so I was in my head, worried if I was doing a good job for the whole first day, instead of just being present and there for people.
It wasn't until one of the retreat members, an older guy of about 50, said to me:
"Jack, you don't have to be doing any of this 'right.'"
That was the most liberating thing I'd ever heard.
If I didn't have to do anything "right," I could just be me.
And when I simply allowed myself to just be me, I could paradoxically serve others the best.
That single sentence prompted the realization that now allows me to spin up retreats at the drop of a dime when inspiration hits:
I don't have to be perfect to run a retreat.
All I have to do is be myself.
And who is myself?
Well, I'm not "perfect" or some pure spiritual guru.
I like to go out and have a few drinks.
I'll rip a cig from time to time with a friend over dinner.
I have days where I get nothing done and scroll too much.
I also have moments when I'm overcome with anxiety and insecurity about my business or my life.
I am nowhere near a perfect human being.
But I am beyond needing to be perfect to be okay with myself AND create experiences that elevate others.
I've realized none of my imperfections mean I'm not equipped to run a retreat - or run a coaching business or community for that matter.
So, I'll say the same thing to you.
Stop waiting to be perfect to serve others.
Waiting to be perfect is the greatest sign of an over-inflated ego.
It is your ego that is scared of embarrassment or of not being seen as perfect.
But it is your SPIRIT who can help another human being and give them love EVEN WHEN you still perceive yourself as imperfect.
So choose courage from your spirit and let go of the ego's worries.
Launch your retreat.
Launch your group program.
Launch your coaching business.
You don't have to be perfect to help another human being.
You just have to create a container for their growth, teach them something you know that they want to know, and direct your attention and energy at them to help facilitate their transformation.
The greatest act of embodiment is to lead with courage even when you're doubting yourself.
So stop waiting to be an enlightened millionaire to help another human being and go out there and live your dharma anyway.
“What is a good man but a bad man's teacher. What is a bad man but a good man's job? If you don't understand this, you will get lost. However intelligent you are, It is the great Secret." ~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, 27
