Regarding recent press coverage
English

@FractalDoctor my entire argument was based on the fact that renewables were generating the majority of electricity for the grid and pushing prices low at that particular time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
English

@tomwarren The technical term for the entirely of your argument is "cherry picking".
English

@Aeronaut4 well of course, that’s because UK electricity prices are still tied to gas
English

@martinw4565 no, you said “How does an average family afford £100k to purchase 2 EV's.”
Pretty simple isn’t it? Don’t buy the luxury models.
English

@tomwarren That's why I said the AVERAGE price. I said £50k because the average subsidy in the UK for an EV is £3750
The average price for a new petrol car is around £22k-£30k
English

@martinw4565 that’s skewed by the large number of luxury EV models. There’s already price parity between electric and petrol cars, particularly on salary sacrifice schemes which many employers in the UK offer
English

@tomwarren Across the year, the sun shines just 15% of the time in the UK.
English

@just_drive_mcr a lot more, because public charging is rated at commercial electricity rates instead of consumer ones
English

@tomwarren Charging at home? How much would it be to charge outside home?
English

@tomwarren How does UK solar operate efficiently particularly in the winter?
English

@FractalDoctor no it didn’t. A fair percentage (75%) came from renewables, just like it is right now

English

@tomwarren A fair percentage of the electricity you used for charging came from fossil fuels, and nuclear, of course, and it's a matter of time before electricity prices rise.
Let's not even mention the subsidies involved.
