After years of Tory austerity, we're backing councils to fix the basics - with a new £18 million fund to make sure kids have somewhere safe to play👇🏻

Those of us still driving ice cars are doing so for a myriad of reasons but we all know EVs are better & cheaper. Everyone I know intends their next car to be electric. We’ll all be there soon. And I can’t wait.

@MirrorPolitics At £46,000 per High Street that'll fund a couple of benches in each location if Local Councils are managing it.

With my friend @jeremycorbyn, I've just delivered key medical aid to Cuba. This is part of the Nuestra America Convoy that’s bringing in huge amounts of aid as Trump tightens the cruel and illegal blockade of Cuba. Donate and learn about the #NuestraAmericaConvoy below.

The UK State Pension should be abolished, and replaced by a "Population Restocking Award Annuity" for retirement. This will repay parents the £250,000 cost per child of raising them to the age of 18.

@JonathanPieNews Good to see that JP makes the case to cease UK State Pensions in the future. I presume he has his own private pension arrangements.

Does welfare include state pensions? I think it does you disingenuous tit. In fact unemployment benefits are roughly 1% of what we spend on state pensions. We can see what you're trying to do here. Wanker.
Matthew Elliott@matthew_elliott

The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare. In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do. And the cost? Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.

@MirrorPolitics I wonder how Labour will legislate against Private Landlords who say: "I'm no longer going to rent out my property. It's not worth the risks of rental. I'll sell it and take a profit."

@KarlTurnerMP @NickTorfaen Yet another Labour MP wanting to rejoin the EU without a mandate. He doesn't have the slightest idea as to what tribute will be demanded in the surrender terms imposed by that Empire.

We must tear down the trade barriers between the UK and our European Union neighbours. It’s won’t be the magic wand to a broken economy but it will help a lot. Well done @NickTorfaen for pointing out the reality and for driving sensible much needed policy. 🌹👏

“I’ve got it in front of me…it's 22 pages long and it's got 56 wet stamps on it.” Cabinet Office minister Nick Thomas-Symonds expresses his frustration with red tape caused by Brexit, saying the forms businesses need to fill in are damaging trade. @KateEMcCann @StigAbell

@paullewismoney It is misleading, the total tax take by the Labour Gov't is £1.1 Trillion/year. That's up from £876 Billion/year in 2025. Not to mention increasing Gov't debt at circa £12 Billion per month.

That’s nonsense because many of the people who get what he calls welfare do in fact Work. And much of this total is paid to pensioners in return for their national insurance and they would certainly not consider it welfare. But it’s fake statistics like these that can influence peoples beliefs.

@bphillipsonMP @FJMcNally The difference is that unemployment is increasing under Labour as you pile costs and regulations on the employers.

British politicians now speak about returning to the EU. As a European, this makes me truly happy. I will support this with all my strength, so that when the British people decide to come back, they will find an open door waiting for them. Because we are one European family 🇪🇺🇬🇧

When even London’s mayor @SadiqKhan @MayorofLondon says the UK cannot afford to drift between Trump’s tariffs, geopolitical shocks and the long shadow of Brexit, it’s time to listen — in Britain and beyond. Sadiq Khan’s message is clear: the illusion of sovereignty has come at a real cost, with weaker growth and less influence. In an unstable world, standing alone is not strength. Rebuilding a close partnership with Europe is not nostalgia — it is a strategic necessity.

@bphillipsonMP Child care is £6/hour; 30 hours/"week" equates to 6 hours per day which is £36/day, which if spread over a school year is £6,840. But which parent leaves their school age kid alone in child care for 6 hours day?

😞 Our offer of 30 hours of government-funded childcare is no longer saving families £7,500... ...it's now saving them £8,000! 😃 Labour is delivering for working families and tackling the cost of living.

@HigginsKieron That'll be relative poverty rather than absolute poverty, which are two very different states. Meanwhile Labour's total tax take = £1.1 Trillion/year; up from £876 Billion last year.
