We live in an interconnected world, as anyone checking their pension pot this morning will know. Today more than most, I find myself quietly grateful that Keir Starmer is a lawyer by training and cautious by temperament. open.substack.com/pub/tomwatsono…

Last night's Grammys was a fantastic showcase for the UK's phenomenal musical talent! Huge congratulations to all of this year's incredible winners and nominees from all at UK Music.
BPI@bpi_music

British artists had a phenomenal run at the Grammy Awards last night 🎉 “Congratulations to Olivia Dean, Lola Young, FKA Twigs, Yungblud, Cynthia Erivo, The Cure, RAYE, and the other British artists who were awarded and nominated at last night's Grammy Awards – and to Olivia and Lola for their sensational performances. Recognition like this is more than a gesture. It’s proof that British music is well and truly world-class, an acknowledgment of last year's many UK musical breakthroughs, and a reminder that the UK remains one of the best places in the world for artists to launch and develop their careers, supported by our record label members and the wider music ecosystem. What's more, four of last night's winners (FKA Twigs, Lola Young, Olivia Dean and RAYE) are alumni of the free-to-attend @TheBRITSchool in Croydon, making last night an incredible testament both to the power of creative education and to the importance of making it accessible to as many young Brits as possible." - Dr Jo Twist OBE (@Doctoe) 🏆 @OliviaDean - Best New Artist 🏆 @lolayounggg - Best Pop Solo Performance 🏆 @yungblud - Best Rock Performance 🏆 @FKAtwigs - Best Dance/Electronic Album 🏆 @Cynthiaerivo098 - Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (with Ariana Grande) 🏆 @thecure - Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance 🏆 @raye - Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change

I am very sorry to read of Nathaniel’s death. He helped me in ways I don't think he knew and was a very special human being. I'll write more about him soon but for now, my thoughts are with his many friends and loved ones. dignityindying.org.uk/news/dignity-i…

Given that he owns 36000 acres of land in England, it would have been fascinating to see your guest editor interview Jon Moses from the right to roam campaign and maybe even comment on trail hunting. Happy Christmas🎄

How sad. I loved singing in the choir at school, even though I told everyone I hated it. And I played the xylophone or was it glockenspiel? Labour should have a target of a choir for every school. It would improve civilisation. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
