Incredible collaborative efforts between academia and industry, and across several disciplines. There is still much work to do. We are here for it.

From the sky, in laboratories & underground, researchers from across #UCDavis are working to detect, manage & fight a parasitic weed threatening the state’s $1.5 billion processing tomato industry. We tell the story in words and videos. spr.ly/6011u1VLJ

Great work by River Vista Farms. And what are the benefits of cover crops? We have a project for that with the Gaudin Lab at UC Davis in 2023! @amelie_gaudin

Important first step to #TomatoSeason: chopping the cover crops! This footage comes to us from our buddies at @rivervistafarms @californiaagchat • Chopping 3 way cover crop in front of tomato planting 2023. Incorporating the biomass into the beds to add organic matter and water permeability into the soil. As you can see, the hollow stems break up nicely with a regular flail mower. This should have been chopped about 2’ ago, but rain didn’t allow us in, so we are chopping it at 3’ high. #covercrop #californiaagriculture #thankafarmer

Symptoms of beet curly top virus start to emerge in tomato fields in Stanislaus Co. from Westley down to Newman with incidence between 5 and 25%. Working with @TomatoResearch and CDFA, we tend to understand dynamics of leafhopper and virus infection across fields and varieties.
