From the sky, in laboratories & underground, researchers from across #UCDavis are working to detect, manage & fight a parasitic weed threatening the state’s $1.5 billion processing tomato industry. We tell the story in words and videos. spr.ly/6011u1VLJ

The first day of the 2023 Biological Summit just wrapped up with an expert grower panel. Thank you to everyone that has helped this inaugural event be such a success! @WesternGrowers @wharf42HQ @agsecross

Important first step to #TomatoSeason: chopping the cover crops! This footage comes to us from our buddies at @rivervistafarms @californiaagchat • Chopping 3 way cover crop in front of tomato planting 2023. Incorporating the biomass into the beds to add organic matter and water permeability into the soil. As you can see, the hollow stems break up nicely with a regular flail mower. This should have been chopped about 2’ ago, but rain didn’t allow us in, so we are chopping it at 3’ high. #covercrop #californiaagriculture #thankafarmer
