A lot of people on here feeling the need to insist that the throwing into canals, attempted stabbings, head-stamping and hunting down of Jews this week in Amsterdam was provoked by the bad behaviour of Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans. Well, good to know that in this instance we’re ok with disproportionate retaliatory violence.

@Baddiel 1. I agree the scenes were awful but bragging chants about the number of children killed in Gaza can't be trivialised as "bad behaviour" any more than the racist chants of a far right riot can. Racist aggression ends up breeding more racist aggression.

What happened last night was not funny. Far-left activists disrupted the event, which then had to be stopped for security reasons. This is done to intimidate people and suppress free speech. I won't stand for it. Would we see the same reaction if the activists were far-right?

@soozaphone Whenever disagreeing with someone I really struggle not to say, "You're wrong and you're a grotesquely ugly freak." Dangerous especially when in a work meeting.
