Most Turks are non-practicing or semi-practicing Muslims. And secularists. (82% support separation of mosque/state.) But Muslims.
I suspect you'd see similar numbers out of Iran, if you got credible polling on the matter. (Gamaan claims only 40% are Muslims, but it's a biased survey, e.g. 97.5% of whose sample, absurdly, are urbanites.)

Moral victory (assuming such even exists) won't help Iran when Trump shatters its state basic functionality and walks away as it currently sems to be the course. As boring as it might be to repeat, my argument that both sides may lose long term is a hill I will take a stand on.
