@galaxyupdatesx @UniverseIce I don't doubt the HP6 is good... But is the HP2 really that bad? In my opinion, the phone has more significant shortcomings, such as in the telephoto and ultra-wide-angle lenses.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra vs Galaxy S26 Ultra 10x auto mode Point and shoot Let’s be clear, I love the true 10x optical on the OPPO Find X9 Ultra. For me, it’s now the standard for what proper 10x quality should look like in good lighting, day or night. Yes, it still struggles in some extreme or tricky light conditions… but that’s exactly where software matters most. OPPO can absolutely improve that with future updates, but people also underestimate how difficult this is and how much time it takes. That’s why when a 10x digital zoom gets close to this level, it says a lot about how strong the software really is. And honestly, in proper light conditions, I fully expect OPPO to win most 10x comparisons. Optical still has advantages software alone can’t fully replace. #ShotOnSnapdragon

@TonyLR6 Very good yes. PS medium the way to go now. Everywhere small improvements. JPEG Expert RAW not bugged anymore. Better colours, a bit sharper. Good update imo.

Samsung finally fixing what mattered. 3x lens bug that kept switching to 1x? Gone. JPEG preview in Expert mode? Fixed too. April 2nd update quietly cleaned things up… and yeah, that’s a Great 👌

Some more wishful thinking from me today. The biggest weakness of 5x/10x periscopes is that they are "slow" (usually f/3.0 or f/3.4). If Samsung pairs the ISOCELL HP5 (200MP) with a 5x (ALoP) lens architecture, they are essentially building the most compact "telescope" ever put in a smartphone. They could achieve f/2.58 aperture at a 5x focal length! HP5 is currently the smallest 200Mp sensor at ~1/1.56-inch. Because it is so small, it can fit into camera modules that were originally designed for 50MP sensors. With a 200MP sensor behind a 5x lens, you get a zoom ladder that looks like this: - 5x: Pure optical output from the 200MP sensor (binned to 12.5MP for massive light gathering) - 10x: A 2x in-sensor crop. Because you’re starting with 200MP, this 10x shot still has 50MP of raw data to work with. It would likely look better than the dedicated 10x optical lens on the S23 Ultra. - 20x: A 4x in-sensor crop. You are still working with 12.5MP of "real" pixels. And if they put a HP6 for the main, it will handle 1x to 4x. Then the ALoP periscope with a HP5 will handle 5x to 100x. By using 200MP on both ends, Samsung ensures that even "digital crops" have more resolving power than the old dedicated 10MP lenses ever did. In terms of size and design, by using ALoP, Samsung can fit that massive 200MP HP5 sensor into the phone without having a "camera bump" that sticks out like it does now. It also leaves internal room for the variable aperture motor on the main camera. I hope @SamsungMobile takes notes and puts these suggestions on the engineering table! Heh ..

My honest opinion is that Samsung will likely move back to an all-ISOCELL stack for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Right @SamsungMobile ?! Samsung recently announced the ISOCELL GNJ and the ISOCELL JN5. These are 50MP sensors specifically engineered to be all-rounders. Specifically the GNJ 50MP sensor designed for high-end telephoto and ultra-wide use. It has improved "on-chip remosaic" tech, which means it can process zoom data much faster than a Sony sensor would. So I think they will go for that. Or at least I HOPE!

Time for a quick "Opinionology" minute (I just coined this term; its first law: "The strength of an opinion is inversely proportional to the amount of leaked data available"). So, bear with me! Current leaks suggest Samsung might remove the 10MP 3x sensor because it has become the "weak link" of the Ultra's camera stack. With a massive 1/1.2-inch 200MP sensor and LOFIC tech, Samsung allegedly believes it can achieve a "lossless" 3x crop from the main sensor that outperforms the aging dedicated lens (which is actually a crop on a 12MP sensor). I still have trouble accepting it will be removed, given the "Quad Camera" marketing Samsung has deployed for years. However, if @SamsungMobile does move to a triple-camera setup (Main, Ultra-wide, Periscope), they’ll have a "gap" to fill. If the 200MP main handles everything from 1x to 4.9x, they could theoretically bring back a dedicated 10x optical zoom for the periscope. While modern mobile photography leans toward the 5x focal length (approx. 120mm) for its versatility in portraits, the 10x (230mm+) remains the king of wildlife and concerts. The most credible part of these rampant leaks is the variable aperture (f/1.4 → f/4.0). This is largely seen as a defensive move against the iPhone 18 Pro, which is heavily rumored to adopt the same tech. We all know Samsung often prioritizes competing with Apple over all other brands. If they do remove the 3x, my take is that Samsung is trying to simplify the hardware to make room for that massive variable aperture mechanism, which takes up significant internal space. Removing the 3x lens might be the only way to fit this tech without making the phone even thicker. For the first time since the Galaxy S10, Samsung would be giving hardware-obsessed photographers a tool they’ve been begging for. If implemented properly, a 3x crop from a 200MP sensor with variable aperture might actually be unnoticeable, offering more detail and better light than the tiny 3x sensor we have now. Additionally, on a 1/1.2-inch sensor, the "focus plane" is very thin. If you take a photo of a document or a group at f/1.4, the edges will be blurry. Being able to stop down to f/4.0 ensures the entire shot is sharp, something digital processing still struggles to fake. But, if Samsung gives us a high-res 50MP 3x telephoto instead, it would be a true zoom beast! A real 3x lens (~70mm) creates a specific look for portraits that a wide-angle crop can’t perfectly replicate. Ultimately, the question is whether Samsung can prove that 200MP + LOFIC makes a 3x crop indistinguishable from dedicated glass. If so, variable aperture is the superior move. It’s a "pro" feature that changes how light hits the sensor, rather than just adding more glass to the back. What do you think? Can a high-quality crop from a 200MP sensor truly replace a dedicated 3x lens, or will we miss the physical glass?

@TonyLR6 True i agree. Also the most important for me. If they upgrade the 5x and main with a bigger sensor, ditching the 3x isn't a big problem but if they don't upgrade the 5x, they better keep the 3x and upgrade it...

@swiggah1 The problem is that Samsung wants to remove the X3 sensor instead of improving it... And they won't change the X5 sensor either... I was hoping they'd use an HP5 sensor this year... For me, the important thing is the sensors, not the design
