Thrilled to share that I’ll be starting my lab in the Kresge Hearing Research Institute @UMichOto in May!
We study how the brain turns gravity signals into stable movement → zhulab.fish (yup, proudly a #zebrafish lab🐟)
If you're interested, get in touch! #newPI

@JasonSynaptic Almost 100 points and 1100 yards of total offense. That was the craziest game I’ve ever seen. Would have been nice if we figured out how to have a second level of run defense. At least it was a W

@TonyUmpierre I remember seeing this out in the desert years ago and thought we were being visited lol.
English

@andyblarsen Yea. You’re the only Andy in media I trust. The Andy doing the video must be an alien.
English

@TonyUmpierre Hold on, I’m hearing that website “WQAD” is actually run by aliens
English

@andyblarsen Couldn’t just let me think it was aliens for 15 minutes? lol.
English

@JasonSynaptic Agreed. One thing that’s particularly interesting and consequential is individual variabilty in an immune response. A one-size-fits-all model would be a disservice in that sense.
English

@TonyUmpierre I'm skeptical too. I've yet to see virtual cell models that do well. But, they are definitely rapidly getting better. The big doubts for me are that they need real biology data to "train" on...and do we even have enough data yet?

CZI pivots, going "all in" on AI models of the cell and now whole physiological systems..starting with the virtual immune system. apnews.com/article/chan-z…

@JasonSynaptic Better policy: investigate people submitting 15+ grants per year. If they seem to be alive and well, I expect it’s AI. If they’re barely clinging to life…that aligns with my expectations for anyone actually writing that many grants per year.

@eyolab @LongJun_Wu Thank you for highlighting! Hope all is well at UVA!

In 2020, in a study led by Umpierre et al. @TonyUmpierre from @LongJun_Wu lab, we learned that microglial calcium activity is increased by both changing neuronal activity indicating bi-directional sensitivity to neuronal activity #content" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">elifesciences.org/articles/56502….🤩#20YearsInVivoMGImaging

@JasonSynaptic We don’t need statements. We need lawsuits and temporary restraining orders or people will lose their jobs. Sick of statements. Universities need to take some goddamn action.

Nice to see a university step up to the plate..more of this please.
