Hello,
Why can’t 2k make a king of the court ( first pic ) type of tournament but for pro am ? Im remembering the NBA2K16 Road to the finals event ( a 250K Prize pool tournament in pro am ) who was on every 2KTV episode ect it was entertaining and fun to watch ( that’s literally what made me start pro am )
Actually except the @eFIBA_official where only 5 players from each country can compete there’s nothing with a real structuration for all the other players / team exept some little tournaments made by the players themselves or some people external to 2K
I think building a weekly / monthly tournament like the King of the court could bring a new aspect to competitive 5s but for that we need the help of the editor directly let me explain u why
Remember all the hype that 2K had in the previous year ?
Let me remember u Tyceno Prime Era tyceno was wagering a lot ( 2K20 / 2k19 )
He was playing for huge prizes in park against other content creators / players and it was entertaining
I remember I used to watch the streams even if I was a pro am players cause at this time the park / stage were waaay more popular because of quarantine ( quarantine played a huge role in viewvership but tyceno was making numbers before it ) and I wanted to see who will win the prize
Now let me talk about the past years in pro am and the viewvership in it
Everytime there’s a big thing to earn a lot of people are watching
For exemple when I’m streaming comp pro am I can get 100 , 200 , 300 viewvers easily it just depend on where I am in the competition I remember when I used to play for a big org I was able to reach 800 viewvers just because the title of the stream was saying EUROPEAN FINALS AGAINST ??? BO5 ( I did on tiktok while 2k24 )
And I’m from Europe so I can’t imagine the audience if a Big NA streamer like Joe knows for exemple actually playing a finals for a huge pot
Actually since the Rebrand of the NBA2K League the most popular mode on the game is the pro am but all the comp players are playing some leagues made by players / external like I said before without a real structuration some cheating allegations some postponed games ect
Like there’s no Professionalism at all
💡Second Part 💡
My idea.
Imagine a tournament with a prize pool equal to the king of the court MyTeam event that come back every weeks / season with a 2KTV episode that tracks all the best performances ect like they did in 2K16 while the 250k Road to the finals event ( just to popularize it )
Where people can qualify by having a high rank in the ranked 5v5 pro am mode ( for exemple if u want to play the tournament u need to be a top 20 team in ur country in the ranked ladder / reach a certain rank or play while a certain windows like the park event but idk I prefer the first suggestion )
And if u are getting qualified the next phase is a phase without boosts or plus 2 ect to get something like we had in past with the 2KL combine or the 2Kl game but without changing the players builds to bring more skill gap in the final bracket phase
I think this could bring a lot of professionalism to the nba2K competitive scene and create more diversity on the game plus a better exposure for the game in general and it could also make the game live longer
It could benefit the players and the game directly on long term by bringing some professional orgs that could maybe collaborate with 2k in future to get some jersey in game ect like other competitive games are doing with bundles skins ect ( Valorant, League of Legends, COD ect ) ( last pic ) or even end on lan events across the world
