Correct, I thought the same thing, but then realized, the process for the dealer is no different than @SavagePoker or the @wsop “action clocks”. The difference is my process encourages players to act immediately rather than taking the full 20/30 seconds, and the clock only changes the players process if they refuse to act appropriately, meanwhile it rewards players who do act appropriately with each decision. @SavagePoker correct me if I’ve misunderstood the dealer process.

Here’s my main problem with action clocks: The majority of the field (especially recs) are not abusive, yet a standard action clock forces every player to mentally track timers and time banks. Which is unnecessary overhead for honest players. Further, while abusive players take max time for each decision the players following the spirit of the game are making decisions in 2-3 seconds. My proposal is a “soft action clock” for the entire field that avoids these downsides: The dealer simply taps a button on the iPad when action is on each player. No visible clock. No audio warnings interrupting players who make quick decisions. It quietly tracks decision times in the background. This approach naturally discourages players from repeatedly taking the full 20–30 seconds, because consistently slow play would increase their average time per decision and flag them. Players whose average decision time is significantly higher than the rest of the field get highlighted on the dealer’s tablet for the floor staff and/or if someone crosses a clear threshold, they can be automatically escalated to a formal action clock without any intervention. This protects and encourages players to play quickly while giving the floor a simple, data-driven way to identify and address real abusers.
