I read Khalid Javed sb's 'Maut Ki Kitab' many years ago & it was one of the very few books that actually gave me nightmares! It pulls you into its dark world. A very powerful work. Will reread it.
(I got the most vivid nightmares after reading Dante's Inferno when I was 17 or 18)

Our airlines always list "Denpasar (Bali)", no mention of Indonesia. Was once seated on plane to a Dutch girl who startes ranting about Muslims (lightly provoked by me) & I had to say "you do realise you're an expat in Muslim country right". Thought she was Russian cuz lipfiller

@akarlin Don't think there's a lot to explain. What you just listed aren't particularly developed nor do they have a lot of interested westerners in it. There's no pakistanoboos going around. They're major languages but few people care.

We blamed some of our failure in brokering Israeli-Palestinian peace on Arafat's decision-making. But much of reason we failed wasn't his decision-making; it was b/c we trivialized issues and how hard reaching agreement on Jerusalem; territory; refugees would be.

The problem is not the cohesion or stability of the Iranian regime. If anything, recent developments show the opposite since they were able to produce, within a short time, multiple proposals aimed at breaking the negotiating deadlock. The real issue lies in the regime’s positions, not its internal decision-making process. And the reason is simple: Iran believes it emerged from the conflict in a position of strength. As long as the administration focuses on how decisions are made in Tehran, rather than on the strategic reality shaping those decisions, it will continue to misread the situation. Iran is not coming to the table under pressure to concede its core positions, it is negotiating from what it perceives as leverage. Under these conditions, the deadlock will persist. And the United States will be left with a narrowing set of increasingly bad options. #iran

@InsightGL It reflects Pakistan’s economic connection to the GCC. Since Pakistan’s forex reserves are impacted by economic activity in the GCC, world bank initiatives that impact GCC also impact Pak. It’s an economic designation not an ethnic one.

The govt has created 5 new districts in Ladakh. There are now 7 instead of 2 districts. The govt wants to divide the unified statehood movement of Buddhists and Muslims. This is another gerrymandering in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir As per the 2011 Census, Ladakh has 46.40% Muslims and 39.65% Buddhist population out of the total population of 274289. Out of the 7 districts, 5 are Buddhist majority, only 2 are Muslim. Basically 5 districts for 39.65% population and only 2 districts for 46.40% population
