Fans and friends of # the #LifecycleTrade and #IBDLive (@EBoboch @KGD_Investor @Top_Dog_102 @IBDinvestors @IBD_JNielsen @IBD_CGessel @mwebster1971 @AlissaCoram @IBD_DChung ) I thought the NASDAQ action on 11/20/2025 was so unusual that I wrote a TradeStation program to find all the days for the NASDAQ index when it opened with a gap as large or larger (gap of 2.18%) that closed with a loss that was as large or larger (-2.15%). This only happened 3 other times. Here are the dates it happened since the beginning of the NASDAQ index: 10/12/2000, Opening Gap= +   2.30%, Closing Loss=  -3.04% 12/13/2000, Opening Gap= +   2.21%, Closing Loss=  -3.72% 10/14/2008, Opening Gap= +   2.72%, Closing Loss=  -3.54% 11/20/2025, Opening Gap= +   2.18%, Closing Loss=  -2.15% What if you look at those dates and the subsequent market action after those dates? Spoiler alert:  It wasn't the bottom. After 10/12/2000, there was a short rally then it rolled over. After 12/13/2000, the index kept falling After 10/14/2008, it was choppy trading but kept falling. If you expand the search a little to include gaps up of 2% or more, and losses of 2% or more, only one more day shows up: 4/8/2025, Opening gap +3.70%, Closing loss -2.15%. This was the day of the tariff tantrum and proved to be near the bottom. Unlike yesterday, April 8 action was news driven. We'll see what happens next, but I expect this is not a short-term bottom.
