Thirty years ago, Japan had 1.29 million foreign residents. Today, 3.77 million. Roughly 2.92 times more. Now 3.04% of the total population — and rising every single year.
It started in 1990, with one quiet revision to the immigration law.
In thirty years, the public was never once asked at the ballot box. Not one referendum. Not one general election fought on this question.
Sweden also "didn't notice." France also "didn't notice." Germany also "didn't notice." And by the time they noticed, the conversation was already over.
We are watching the same script unfold in our own country, in our own lifetime.
This is not xenophobia. This is the right of a people to decide who they become.
