TFS crews on scene of a 2-alarm residential highrise fire on Richview Rd. in the Eglinton W./Scarlett area, one occupant rescued from a 19th floor unit by firefighters, occupant care transferred to Toronto Paramedics. Fireground operations continue. ^bp #Toronto

On this day in 1834, the Town of York in Upper Canada was officially incorporated as the City of Toronto - making Toronto 192 years old today! The name Toronto comes from the Mohawk word “Tkaronto,” meaning “where there are trees standing in the water,” a reflection of the land and waterways that have shaped this place for generations. Proud of the work by our crews at the Beare Rd fire. Crews faced challenges with limited water supply and worked seamlessly to bring the fire under control. Grateful for the support from Ajax, Pickering, Whitby & Markham fire services who provided water tanker support. #Toronto

Ice thickness is hard to judge, and conditions can change quickly. 🚫 Avoid walking, skating or driving on ice‑covered waterbodies unless they are officially designated as safe.
