Our new class pet sparked wonderful discussions and even led to a math lesson on data management this week. We discussed what we see, think and wonder with our new moss ball and voted on our favourite name. @PAlgonquin

Today we continued to build relationships and connections with our peers. Groups worked together to save Fred! This is my favourite back to school activity. @PAlgonquin

Today we spent time getting to know each other. Each table was challenged to find as many things in common as they could. They wrote each idea on a note card and tried to make the tallest tower.

@AngelaStockman You should have your class participate in the Global Read Aloud. All of the books chosen each year are fantastic. Any time I choose a book to read with my class, I also ensure that I can connect it to multiple areas of my curriculum.

This “template” letter TEACHES parents how to object to FRONT DESK. These book bans are the intentional, organized effort of a well funded machine to erase the lived stories of people like me. 😭How did it feel seeing this letter mentioned in @Salon this morning? Terrifying.

@Flipgrid I do student-led conferences for parent-teacher conferences. Since parents can’t come in the school this year, I will have my Ss create a video on Flipgrid. They can show their family some of the work they are proud of and what they feel they need to work on #FlipgridForAll
