Unless your have rocks for brains or don't have hands, you would clearly know that settings on the bottom side of your finger is uncomfortable for everyday wear especially with those large stones. So gold is very soft those facets will not hold those stones well with wear and tear. Platinum is always the better choice especially when it comes to larger stones. Im sure she didnt ask for a ring that would be uncomfortable to wear...
