@EddyFurniss @BrandonDaniell I don’t disagree, but then you gotta give the 2023 class an extra year too.

The 2022 baseball recruiting class got screwed from the start.
They walked into the NIL explosion, fought for playing time behind COVID super-seniors, navigated nonstop transfer chaos, and didn’t even have full scholarships until THIS YEAR.
Now the new 5-to-play-5 rule gives every younger class a full extra season while they get cut off at 4.
Fair fix: True 4th-year seniors deserve ONE optional 5th year at their current school only. No transferring for the extra year.
Minimal impact. @NCAABaseball @NCAA

NEWS: NCAA President Charlie Baker told ESPN today that he’s “pretty optimistic” that the new aged-based eligibility proposal will happen. The DI Board of Directors met today and will recommend to not implement this rule retroactively for graduates/exhausted eligibility. “If you’ve used up your eligibility, you’ve used it up,” Baker told ESPN of the tenor of the discussion.

@sykes_dav @ronaldusseryjr Didn’t they get a Covid year while in college ?
English

@ronaldusseryjr I read all these posts about 2022 high school grads getting screwed. All the 2021 high school grads that played 4 consecutive seasons with the Covid players would also love a 5th year. Someone please give me one example how the situations are different.

The NCAA advanced the 5-for-5 eligibility model on April 27. The Board specifically said it will not apply to athletes whose eligibility ends spring 2026.
Translation. Senior-class athletes lose out on the additional year by one cycle.
The most likely next step. Another wave of antitrust eligibility cases like Pavia v. NCAA. The early 2026 rulings have been mixed. Pavia and Chambliss obtained preliminary injunctions. Aguilar did not. Patterson did not. Heinecke obtained one in state court.
Watch the Sherman Act framework, the relevant market definition, and whether a court treats the four-season cap as an output restriction without a procompetitive justification that survives Alston.

@ronaldusseryjr The HS class of 2022 gets screwed again. Everyone before them and now after them gets extra years. My daughter is graduating this year. I’d love for her to get that 5th year to pay for part of her Masters degree.

@db13hockey @JustinMusil @NCAA No. You have 5 years to play 4 years. This covers and injury or redshirt year. If you play 4 you are done.
English

@JustinMusil @NCAA What about players that just finished their 4 season? Will they get a 5th?
English

This will be one of the biggest changes in @NCAA history.
- 5 full seasons/5 years, no redshirts
- Great for player development
- Portal numbers will see a huge drop
- Shifts recruiting focus back to high school players, for most schools
- Freshman can be used sparingly now and it doesn’t change their eligibility
- The system will be less transactional
- 1 time transfer, with no sitting, is still fair for players

NCAA President Charlie Baker is pushing for the proposal to allow DI athletes five years of eligibility to be voted on as emergency legislation in May, with implementation the next month. Baker is also in support of DI having a legal tampering window like we see in the NFL.

@Prince_dc21_ @luxemiaa It was the mom’s friend. No decision was based on looks. She wanted her friend to sit with her and help

If we’re being honest, that situation says a lot about how people make quiet decisions based on perception. You were willing to help, but before you could even say a word, someone else was already chosen as the more suitable option.
It might look small, but moments like that reflect a bigger issue people are often judged and filtered based on how they look, what they represent, or what others assume about them, not their actual intention. You didn’t even get the chance to show your willingness before a decision was made for you.
And the ironic part is, if you had insisted on helping, it could easily have been misinterpreted in a negative way. So you’re left in a position where doing good can still be questioned, while others are automatically trusted.
It’s subtle, but it shows how bias works in everyday situations.

Last year on a flight, I sat next to a woman holding a baby. Instantly, I was so excited at the prospect of helping with this baby. Before I could even introduce myself, the flight attendant walks over and says to me "Miss, can I talk to you the back of the plane, please?" 'Am I in trouble?!' are the words that come out of my mouth "No, you're not in trouble, I'd just like to chat with you at the back of the plane" the flight attendant replies, very nicely. 'Can you just tell me here?? ...

Since we passed the Affordable Care Act, Republicans have tried over and over to repeal it. And over and over, they’ve failed — in part because millions of people now depend on the ACA for quality, affordable health care.
Now Republicans are trying something different: quietly weakening the law and hoping you won’t notice. We can’t let them.
