Woodpeckers, Lesser Redpolls, a brief Woodlark, Red Kites and showy singing Stonechats were the highlights from our 'Best of North Notts' walk this morning. A fabulous group enjoyed the sun, scenery and birds at @RSPBSherwood and Budby today @Natures_Voice @NottsBirders

Wildlife researcher @CarlosBedson has spent 5 years studying the rare mountain hares of the Peak District- they date back to the ice age & he’s worried they’re at risk again from climate change youtu.be/1XHlL5Y7EqE via @YouTube

Fab Mountain Hare walk with a lovely family from Cambs this morning - a minimum of 3 seen well including one speeding away uphill (much better view than my naff snap suggests!) along with 4 Curlew (2 pairs), 2 Golden Plover and plenty of grumbling Red Grouse @PTES @HPT_Official

Another good outing looking for raptors in the Upper Derwent Valley with a smashing group today. No Gos but did see 4 species with great views of Kestrel, Buzzard, female Sparrowhawk and a brief Peregrine. Great to hear a Curlew calling nearby @shefbirdstudy @Derbyshirebirds

Life doesn’t always workout out. Day 1 of the Hebridean Way, all going swimmingly and I was so loving it. And then - slipped going downhill and in seconds a broken humerus and probably dislocated elbow. Waiting to be airlifted to Stornoway for an operation. I can’t thank enough the AMAZING Barra coastguard rescue team and the Barra hospital staff, your kindness is overwhelming. So sorry I won’t be posting beautiful photos of these stunning islands. I’m very disappointed. Thank you to everyone who sent lovely messages of support when I set out. ☹️😢 I will be back!

This week's #ethel - a walk up to Harland Edge (371m) was very much plan B for today (as thick mist clung on in the Derwent Valley until midday scuppering plan A) but wow what a difference some altitude made! Great views coupled with a fine Peregrine & 1st upland Curlew of 2025😊
