This piece made me furious. Nurses are asked to *bid* on shifts, offering to work lower and lower wages, and then the app can fail and not pay them at all. We don't have a nursing shortage, we have a shortage of good jobs sane humans are willing to work. rooseveltinstitute.org/publications/u…

Nurses have fled the profession due to poor working conditions, creating what some people have incorrectly identified as a “nursing shortage.” Gig nursing platforms falsely promise to empower workers & meet their needs while further exacerbating the many issues in health care.

New @rooseveltinst report on the uber-fication of nursing from @KatieJWells out today. It’s horrifying: Gig nursing apps are charging workers exorbitant fees, forcing them to continue working when hurt on the job or for 20 hour shifts—withholding pay/future shifts if they don’t.
