Starting April 30, 2026, Indonesia’s QRIS is officially going live in China. 🇨🇳🇮🇩 But what exactly is QRIS? Think of it as the "Universal Remote" for digital payments. In many Western countries, you might use Apple Pay or a specific banking app. In Indonesia, QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) is a single, unified QR code that works with any Indonesian bank or e-wallet (like GoPay or OVO). Instead of merchants needing five different QR codes for five different apps, they only need one. You scan, you pay, it’s instant. China is already the world leader in QR payments (Alipay/WeChat Pay), but usually, you need a local account or a linked international card that doesn't always work everywhere. This is a massive step for "de-dollarization" and makes regional travel seamless. After successful launches in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, the jump to China is the biggest one yet!
