@BlondeHistorian That’s really helpful what you did to help build their confidence. My son is 12 and has been afraid of dogs due to large dogs running up to him as a toddler. We’ve finally turned a corner recently where he has had a series of interactions with old docile dogs, getting there.

@Vintage_Maggie @LJRossAuthor Thanks for the tip I’ll check out the audio book version!

@Tracey_TPlanner @LJRossAuthor I think it hard going as well. Managed Wolf Hall over time but struggled with Bring up the Bodies and The Mirror and The Light. No idea if this would work for you but listening to the unabridged audio books really helped me

Overheard in the pretentious reading corner of Twitter: “Yah, yah, I hate those ‘easy reading’ novels; they add nothing to the body of literature as a whole”. This, from somebody who has never written a single book; never thought about what reading means to people other than themselves; never considered the value to be found in immersing oneself in an enjoyable story…in short, it’s the worst kind of navel-gazing, propagated by those who are terribly concerned that people should think they’re intelligent. Well, as someone very comfortable with my intellect, let me say this for the slow ones at the back: ALL READING IS GOOD. Mills and Boon, comics, Ulysses, whatever floats your boat is absolutely fine with me, because it’s bringing you happiness, and it isn't for me or anyone else to dictate that.

@LJRossAuthor I love your books because they are easy to read as well as the fantastic plot lines. Wordy books just send me to sleep.

The National Trust has been criticised for ‘lecturing’ on the climate emergency, and told to stick to its ‘true purpose.’ World-famous gardens in our care are now blooming four weeks earlier than expected. Nature can’t be silenced. theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

Thank you for the fab display, @Waterstones238 - my childhood self could never have imagined these moments, and the feeling of wonder never gets old.

A bit rough around the edges in v. busy first full week back at school/work, but while bandwagon's rolling, here's a little musical parody setting the #PostOfficeScandal & #MrBatesVsThePostOffice to a @BonnieTOfficial 🎶classic. We're calling it: "They Should Be Cleared, Though!"
