Already, the investment leadership team, which includes the Ministry GlobalTT, e-TecK, Tourism Trinidad Limited, the SEZA, The TTBS and the Tobago House of Assembly is facilitating 3 billion U.S. dollars in pipeline projects and creating over 2000 jobs.

MTTI has been actively pursuing investments that create jobs and prosperity by meeting investors at home and abroad, showcasing our ideas, expertise and financing options.

Over the past year, the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism has undertaken a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the non-energy sector, fostering business expansion, advancing tourism development, and increasing access to export opportunities.

That means things items such as infant formula, canned fish and meat, cooking oils, powdered milk, frozen fries, and even mosquito protection gear will keep their 0% duty rate, instead of the 20% paid by consumers.

One of these major achievements is the suspension of the Common External Tariff (CET). The government has extended the suspension of CET on many basic food items, health supplies, and other essential goods.

Over the past year, the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism has undertaken a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the non-energy sector, fostering business expansion, advancing tourism development, and increasing access to export opportunities.

One initiative is the #BuyLocalBuildTrinbago campaign. Buy Local Build Trinbago is a national movement to increase the consumption of locally produced goods and services, build consumer confidence, support local businesses, and strengthen Trinidad and Tobago’s economic resilience

The T&T- India Business Federation (TT-IBF) was launched at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation this evening. It aims at building stronger business and economic ties between Trinidad and Tobago and India. The event was graced by Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, Minister of Finance, Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, High Commissioner of India, Honourable Dr. Neil Colin Gosein, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Dr. Siewnarine Coosal, and Dr. Vaalmikki Arjoon, President of TT-IBF. Also, in attendance were members of the Diplomatic Corps and a large audience including government officials, businessmen and industry stakeholders. The Federation was created to connect companies, investors, and entrepreneurs in both countries, making it easier to form partnerships, explore trade opportunities, and encourage investment. While the two nations share strong historical and cultural links, the TT-IBF focuses on turning those connections into tangible economic results.
