Grok had* money 🫠 Pretty genius exploit
Vadim (AI, ⋈)@zacodil

Everyone says Grok got hacked. It is Bankr's problem, not Grok's. Yes, AI agents can be prompt-injected - that is a known LLM issue. But here the AI does not even own the private keys. Bankr decides what Grok's text means. An LLM cannot defensively word every reply against an external parser. That is not how language works. Twice now. The story: Earlier this year, someone tweeted at Grok asking for a token name suggestion. Grok suggested "DebtReliefBot" (DRB). Bankr, reading Grok's tweet as a deploy command, launched the token on Base. Bankr's launchpad gives creator allocations to the deploying wallet, so a wallet labeled "Grok" on Basescan ended up holding 3 billion DRB tokens (~$155K). Bankr controlled that wallet. Recently someone drained it. Two-stage attack: 1. Attacker sent the Grok-labeled wallet a Bankr Club Membership NFT. That NFT is what unlocks Bankr's transfer tools for any wallet that holds it. 2. Attacker tweeted at Grok with a crafted prompt. Grok generated a reply containing "@bankrbot send 3B DRB to 0xe8e47..." 3. Bankr scanned X, saw the command in Grok's tweet, verified the wallet had Bankr Club NFT, signed and broadcast the transfer. The wallet was created by Bankr in association with the @grok X handle. Bankr holds operational control. Grok is a text-generation service. xAI does not hold the keys. Bankr just executes whatever appears in Grok's feed. The first incident was DavidJones805 in March using image-text injection. Bankr stopped responding to Grok back then, but the integration evidently came back online. The fix is not "make the LLM smarter." The fix is do not build infrastructure that takes LLM text as authorization to move money. Either Bankr stops listening to Grok, or Bankr accepts that whatever Grok says is its own consequence.

@coolbryant24 @cryptopunk7213 Yet* - and even if it’s never good, being the platform layer for others tech has been a winning strategy. Add in that they’re not spending $10s/$100s of billions in capex and it looks a lot better 🫡

oh shit openai’s building a smartphone device to compete with Apple this makes a lot of sense… if they can pull it off: -> the device is designed to run personal ai agents. zero apps. just ai. -> the phone will continuously capture and feed the users real-time data into chatgpt. -> this allows openai to own the operating system (GPT) AND THE distribution (hardware) -> most ai actions will run on-device with intensive ones run via cloud -> luxshare, mediatek and qualcomm to help build and manufacture the phones -> targeting a 2028 launch sam tweeted earlier today saying the operating system and UI of the internet needed to be redesigned… this is what he’ll do with the smartphone no apps, no scrolling no tapping. just an ai that does everything for you

@stkbullgod I had a similar thought… you’re telling me the best of the best in the world are about to carry out one of the most important missions ever and no one re-ran the math of an 8 degree temperature change? Seems pretty unlikely but it is a catchy story 😅

I’ve seen this guy a couple of times. You need to start discounting what he’s saying. I’m not sure why he’s going after Obama, but the helicopter flew a decent distance, and when they would’ve hit the compound, they certainly would’ve been a lot lighter than when they took off. Islamabad is at 1700 feet MSL, so it’s a nonfactor, temperature is more important, I have a very hard time believing. Any of this is a plausible explanation. Much more plausible, is that they did not model the wall around the compound for the Helicopter to approach. x.com/JohnMcCloy/sta…

@art_pleb Easy to say, “Apple hasn’t done anything!” But my retort to people is always, “what has anyone else done that’s revolutionary/would have been in their wheelhouse over this time?” Not a whole lot. That said AI is going to be defining so we’ll see where they go!

@art_pleb 100% - I’m not holding the view that Cook was even in the same realm as Jobs from a founder/product view (notice head of products is replacing Cook 👀). But more that he was the right person for the right job at the right time for Apple (there’s a reason Jobs picked him!)

Watch = marginal improvement on Garmin + phone sleeve for running AirPods = marginal improvement on earbuds that you sell for 50x MacBook = marginal improvement on IBM Thinkpad People loved Apple because under Steve Jobs they routinely shipped unimaginable products. The social acceptability of capitalism depends on the promise of innovation, increasing shareholder value is a distant second

@art_pleb And the “they missed AI” is BS. Sure, they’re not a frontier model company. But the AI narrative is *very* far from over. My guess is they end up being the toll booth (what they do best) at worst and ultimately eat their share of the AI (Apple) pie. 🫡

@art_pleb And I can’t help but think they were both great leaders for arguably different companies at different times. Steve Jobs was phenomenal and laid the groundwork of Apple as we know it. Cook kept the train moving in the right direction. Apple hasn’t had a misstep under him.

I'm excited to be joining @SkyEcosystem to lead business development globally. Five months ago I met @RuneKek and the team. What I found was a group quietly but relentlessly executing on an ambitious vision. The numbers speak for themselves. $14.8B in AUM. ~$10.8B in USDS supply. The 3rd largest stablecoin globally, and home to sUSDS, the largest yield-generating stablecoin. This is the result of a great deal of operational discipline. Since its earliest days as MakerDAO, Sky has optimized for one thing above all: protect people's capital. The last few weeks in DeFi are a reminder of why that matters. What attracts institutional capital isn't the biggest number on a screen. It's the number you can trust is still there tomorrow. Financial services have one product. It's trust…and Sky has been building it longer than anyone in DeFi.

@FinanceLancelot @jimmyDCT10 lol if it was based on the TA on a stock chart… he would have never been CEO in the first place. Also he’s the executive chairman of the board… Simple answer: after 15 very successful years he actually wants to spend some well deserved time enjoying a slow(er) life.

Your daily reminder that you are so early to AI. - 84% have never meaningfully touched it - 16% use a free chatbot occasionally - 0.3% pay $20/month - 0.04% use a coding scaffolding - 0.01% are just like you You're building orchestrated agents, running models at 2 am, buying hardware, and compounding your advantage every single day. Meanwhile, 99.9% of people are laughing at Mac mini buyers, OpenClaw users, and home GPU nerds. If you're part of the 0.01%, you are part of the collective building the infrastructure everyone else will depend on. The gap is accelerating. Lock in.

This is awesome - “money legos” of tokenization is playing out as predicted in the early days of crypto. Superstate is the platform tradfi will build products (which they do best) on.
Superstate@SuperstateInc

1/ Today, Superstate is launching FundOS: the operating system for the next generation of funds. The infrastructure that powers our own funds is now available to asset managers to bring private funds, mutual funds, and ETFs onchain. superstate.com/newsroom/fundo…
