We are less than 48 hours away from the official launch of this year’s 24 Hour Transit Triathlon!! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚌🚝💨 And you may be wondering, why in the world would anyone do this (AGAIN!!)? The answer is pretty simple: in a few Miami neighborhoods, transit, biking, and walking gets you where you need to go. In others, you have no freedom to chose. The 2026 24-Hour Transit Triathlon is how we find out where the gaps in mobility exist for our community, and what we can do to fix them. Our driving question this year is: “What does it take to connect Miami’s communities?”   These answers will power Streets for People, our push for 20 community-led mobility improvements across the county.  Thread 🧵

For 24 hours straight, we’re walking, biking, and riding transit across the County. Along the way, we’re learning from riders and neighbors about the gaps in their neighborhoods that, if fixed, could make a real difference in their quality of life. Fixed sidewalks? Sheltered stops? 🚨ALERT🚨 Due to a software communications issue, only a limited number of buses are available for this morning’s BRT 601 service on the South Dade TransitWay. Additional buses have been deployed to maintain service while DTPW works with the manufacturer to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Riders should expect delays. Please be prepared to work with your bus operator and security personnel on modified boarding procedures as back-up buses only have 2 doors (vs. BRT’s standard 4). The 602 TransitWay local service will also be stopping at the BRT station/601 stops to allow riders additional service options. Thank you for your patience as we work diligently to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
